Not that I care much for religion, but you have to realize the bible was written by dozens of scholars over several hundred years. The beauty in it's scriptures is that it was originally meant as a motivational work. How many lives has it helped by giving hope to people that thought all was lost? Sure, there are times people do stupid things with it, but that isn't the bible's fault. Human's will always be broken, but that's what make's us beautiful (imo). -

PS: The bible contradicts itself because it also says the following "12th day of the last month 2012 years after christs return, that will be your last day on earth" and if it also says that the world will end on the may 21 then its contradicting itself

but...
the fact that the bible was written by 30+ authors through out hundreds of years, with very little background stories present at the time and yet it still it retains an exact storyline (it's all about Jesus Christ, even Genesis) shows that the Bible is much more than a collection of interesting stories...

I understand your point, and agree it's a lot more than a group of stories. In all honesty about the Jesus story though, it wasn't written until centuries later, and the fact that it all mostly adds up (there are a few discrepancies) just adds testament to the strong will of the scholars to keep the book unified. Not claiming it is or isn't true, but that shouldn't matter; the whole purpose of the Bible shouldn't be to make you believe those stories but rather to use those metaphors to better change your life. -
But Christianity shows you what's right and what's wrong. And the bible is a guidance to this... but that is if your a Christian that's their rights and wrongs.
For people like us who have no beliefs/religion....it is much harder to judge what is right and what's wrong, like laws(which does connect to the bible). But common sense goes a long way... -
