I go with crates with ZP.

benefit 1: you get GP anyway though not in as much of an increment.
benefit 2: possibility of getting the high up guns
benefit 3: you get the ZP temp guns that are there too

OT: Do whatever you feel comfortable with. In my opinion I would spend the rest ZP on GP for some more permanent weaponry.
