SOLVED - Game doesn't open (WinXP SP3 user)
Hey,
I haven't been playing for months so i downloaded the game but after the installation I couldn't get past the HWG loading. The game wouldn't start. HGW process was running, Xtrap Tray wasn't showing up and so does the game. It was not giving me any error message.
If you have this problem this is what you should try :
- Downgrade Internet Explorer to version 6 : START->Control panel-> Add/Remove Programs. Check the Updates box and delete Internet explorer 7/8 and it updates then reboot.
- Download a Web browser like Mozilla Foxfire/Google Chrome and set it as your default Web browser.
I have downloaded Crossfire from this mirror : West Coast 1.
My Windows Firewall is on with no exception for Crossfire.
I didn't need to open any ports on my Linksys router to play the game.
I have no Antivirus atm.
I hope this help.

For a clean uninstall of Crossfire :
- Uninstall the game from the ADD/REMOVE programs in the control panel.
- Delete the game folder manualy on your hard drive.
- Use Ccleaner to remove traces in the registry.
(Registry -> Scan for Issues -> Select keys related to Crossfire -> Fix selected issues)
- Reboot
No problem with the client from the West Coast 1 mirror plus the game is already patched (v1056).
Try diseabling your antivirus protection when downloading and installing the game. It is possible that you may have to add an exception for the Crossfire client in your antivirus (and maybe Xtrap and HGW).
Like I said in my previous post, I am using Windows XP sp3 (administrator session) the game just wouldn't start but I was not getting any error msg... just nothing.
Downgrading to IE6 and using Firefox as my default Web browser solved my problem. Seems like that IE8 was blocking the game or something.
