M4a1 Standard - Review
Introduction - The M4a1 is one of the most popular guns in Crossfire. It is widely regarded as one of the best, easiest to use, and beginner friendly weapons. A good portion of players will get the M4a1 when they start out an account and will use it up untill, and after they reach the rank of Staff Sgt 1.
My Own Experience - The M4a1 has been used by me in multiple accounts and is the first weapon I made it to Staff Sgt. with. I think it is probably my best weapon for SnD games. I use it now backed up with my USP pistol. I use it mostly in 4-6 bursts or 2 bursts at long range. With it I can average a K/D ratio of 2.0 - 2.5 in most TD's in the Alpha server.
Name: M4a1
Rank Requirement: None
Cost: 43 000GP - Permanent
Ammo: 30/90, 30/120 with rifle mag, 30/135 with Mutation Magazine.
Power - Headshot = 1 at all ranges
Chest = 4 at all ranges
Stomach = 4 at Mid/Long -- 3 at Close
Arms = 5 at Close -- 5-6 at Medium -- 5-7 at Long
Legs = Varies anywhere from 5-10 shots depending on position and range.
Feet = ??? Why are you aiming at their feet ???
Accuracy - Standing = Strong accuracy, will go where you need it too almost every time at
any range. 1 Shotting ability isn't as strong as AK-47 standing up but
will get the job done.
Walking = Don't do this myself much but it is quite accurate at Close to Mid and
at long it might get a body shot off or too.
Running = At close range is nice and good mixed with the power and firing rate.
Don't rely on the gun to carry you here though.
Strafing = The one bad point of the M4a1; its strafing ability lacks, you lose
accuracy to the rate of if you were running almost instantly. Moving,
stopping, then shooting is recommended with the M4a1.
Crouching = Crouching with the M4a1 is where you want to be. The M4a1's
accuracy gets an insane boost while crouching, so much so that it
is more accurate than the AK-47 while crouching. At mid range
Standing is ok but you want to crouch for areas like across Monaco
Fire Rate - The Fire Rate of the M4a1 is in terms of speed, one of the fastest Assault Rifles,
it really packs a punch and allows you to pop a corner do a quick 3-4 burst and
get out fast, this allows maximum efficiency in your shooting.
Recoil - The Recoil on the M4a1 is quite good. It isn't "Scrub Light" recoil but it gets the job
done. It allows for really good burst shots. Spraying at long range isn't advised but
if your having some problems with your burst at mid range then why don't you just
let your gun pull out some Spraying 5.56x45mm NATO magic. In the end the spray
on this gun is very well balanced with the rest of the gun.
Weight - Not much to say here, it was designed to be a shortened M16 rifle so it's a safe
bet its one of the lighter rifles but not Bull Pup material.
Ghostiers Tips:
1) Crouching is one of the key factors of this gun, know when to crouch and know when to stand. Crouching helps your recoil and makes 5-6 shot bursts possible, albeit with a long cooldown.
2) Stomach attacks. Up Close and Personal aiming for the stomach is advised if you can't get that shot off on the opponents head. The reason why is the M4a1 is then a 3 hit kill and therefore you can do multiple 3 bursts to kill your enemies with minimal cool down between bursts.
3) Move. As with any gun MOVE, it helps so much, you can dodge, duck behind cover, strafe, make it so you mess with your enemies aim. When you notice they start missing you take that quick Burst to the Stomach or the 1 shot to the head. This is the recommended way of taking out your opponents.
M4a1 Rating - Power: 7/10
Accuracy: 9/10
Fire Rate: 9/10
Recoil: 8/10
Weight: 7/10
Overall: 40/50 = 80% Gun Rating
M4a1 Rank - B+ - Overall A great gun, it will serve you well, I would bump it up to an A if
only it were a bit more powerful.

PS: This is my First Review on a gun. (Not my first forum post... I have an other account, this is one I started a week ago) Anyways this is my first gun review, comments would be nice and *Constructive Criticism* would be appreciated.

Nice review. All knowledge that I know though.. I need some info that would help me through my CF career
I've learned almost anything, and I'm used to surprises.. I'm not the best but.. CF is getting boring >.< Scrims with my friends are the only good part now. And btw, I think strafeing with the M4 works just fine bro

Sorry, not for the sake of argument, I used to use Ak-47 as my main, and yes when you crouch the M4a1 has a better accuracy rate then the Ak-47, the crosshair is even visibly smaller. The Ak-47 is better while moving so it gives a better accuracy rate overall but in the end the M4a1 has the more accurate one shot.
