When were we gonna be told about this?
Really Z8? Really. Since when could you only get 1 item won from the black market thats perm? ALL the perm weapons are basically considered UNIQUE in that sense, so why was the hat singled out? And if its not only the hat, when were you going to tell us about this and waste crates on something we thought we earned? Does that mean no more dual Deagle-C's? No extra AWM-Xmas'?
Not only was it a waste of a crate, but the failure to notify ANYONE of this little thing is absurd once again. You continue to astound me as per usual. There was no mention of any of the items being proposed this season as being a 1 shot deal, and only that. Care to explain yourselves or gonna hide like you normally do? Because its laughable how your support team was so keen on knowing this information and no one else.

Yet you can get multiple guns like 2 de-cs and more why you need 2 of them? same goes to santa hat, you can wear them in each character you want. -

Its more of the principal of the issue, but also convenience sake. Its annoying to begin with if you want to change characters and re-equip every item you have. Sometimes its nice to have sets of gear for different characters, otherwise why put the character tags on items for specific characters? But like I said, who's to say this won't be the only case? -
For the DE-C argument, you can get multiples for different bags.
For the Santa Hat argument, you can only use one. Hypothetically, if you got 3 Santa Hats, you can only wear one while in-game but can put it on different characters in-game. But what's the point?
But, I do agree. Failure to inform us that is wrong. -

Why would they do so only for such? It makes yet another item in the crates useless, when it should be special. Nothing like a kick in the face when you see 'Congratulations' only to have it stolen from you. -
Here's something that you guys possibly may have just missed. Once you put an item on one character, it's on all of them. If I go right now, and put on my STAR, I can expect to have the Santa hat on that as well.

You are right in point A we should have been informed
But think it might be a bug.
I have a friend who has a ton of double guns (5 winchesters and 3 conda advs) and none was deleted

Unfortunately I have to come here with news that isn't as positive as one might like.
This was a change made after the Halloween patch. Currently for this specific item (hats) there is only one available hat from this GP crate allowed per account, per hat.
So you can only win one Rudolph Helmet and one Santa Hat.
Unfortunately it will be difficult to do anything about this particular aspect at the moment. We have passed this along the proper channels to find out if there is anything that can be done for this patch and/or for future patches that include permanent "non weapon" items. (the key here being non weapon items)
We hope you accept our sincerest apologies for the lack of information regarding this change. We have done our best in the recent history to be as transparent as we can regarding policy, updates, improvements etc. And this simple, but important change should have been communicated to the public.
As mentioned, it is less about the actual problem and more about the principle. And we agree with this sentiment.
We'll be making an announcement on our news site and subsequently adding this note into the patch notes. If a change or resolution comes we'll also update it as needed. -

Any chances of the item instead giving back 2000gp (the price of the crate) for the hat if received again then? Or is it just an incentive no to go for the crates afterwards because of issue thats arised from it? Just to let some know if theres really a need.

I would use this as incentive to avoid the crates after you win one of the prizes. We aren't stopping you from getting more, because there is still the option of getting the other hat.
Should also add that it is never our intention to implement an item that isn't fun to participate in. The fact that the duplicate hat disappears is definitely not the ideal situation.
It is difficult for us to track in this particular case when a duplicate hat is won. So unfortunately we won't be able to do anything for people who do win that duplicate hat. As of right now.
