Stronghold - Why you don't like it

I actually like Stronghold. It still has places to camp, but a safety in the sheer size and advantage of employed ranged combat. However, the concept of using TACTICS to win RATHER than camping is far-fetched.
Mutation mode is practically made for camping. If you think that tactics will help you for more than 30 seconds, you simply haven't played mutation mode with enough people/people who have a similar skill level. If you're running around in the open, you will be picked first and as an easy target. This is obvious and stupid to deny. If you are running around in the open you are not camping. This is obvious and stupid to deny. If you are not camping, there is more than one way to get to you. This is obvious and stupid to deny. If there is more than one way to get to you, your opponents will use more than one way to get to you (provided they have semi-legitimate gameplay experience and/or average intelligence). You can only shoot in one direction. Get over it, it leaves you open to at least one mutant, all the time. Any and every time this condition is met, it is a direct strain between your skill and the skill of your combined opponents (and there will be more than one). No tactics beyond simple reflex and a bit of luck are involved.
P.S.: One of the first rules of the fight or flight reflex is to not run from something faster than you. Mutants are faster than you.
If however, you are camping, you have successfully maintained the only advantage a human has-range and a focused direction to employ it. Camping works better than running. Whether you find running more or less legitimate than camping is a matter of personal opinion.
As for me, I'll continue to camp atop the main gate and succeed in doing it. -
I like Mutation Mode... You just need to have the right weapons in order to have fun in MM. I love owning mutants with my RPK-gold just as much as I love owning ghosts with my M4-custom. The Stronghold map though.... well, it sucks. I love MM, but I hate the Stronghold map. I know you can camp on the boxes, but the mutants can jump from one box to another, so it doesn't do much good. About a week ago, I got 99 kills to 3 deaths in Tranquility when I was there for 15 rounds. But when I play Stronghold, I normally average 30-50 kills with at least 5 deaths. It's too easy for mutants to own the humans on that map.

Maybe your just bad? I can do better in Stronghold because it's a run and gun map. Tranquility is a camping map. Your probably sitting on that lamppost or sitting on the ladder I bet. -
well like all mm maps as soon as the crate drop comes you get couple of people leaving the group to get they get muted then seconds later you all get muted. team work in this mode fails because most people dont have a IQ of more then 1 but on the other hand its a very good map different layout with different tactics.

except your argument is so much better. this is obvious and stupid to deny. -

haha no, I have never gone on the lamppost and I don't like the ladder because the laggers get up too fast. I prefer to start off on one of the walls, wait for a mutant to come, fight him with my RPK-gold for a while, and then run and gun with my pistol.
Running and gunning in a Stronghold doesn't make much sense though... In a STRONGHOLD, you are supposed to have good defense positions. However, the map is just one big building surrounded by piles of boxes. The building fails because it just wraps around in circles, and the piles of boxes fail because mutants can jump from one box to another. If you have fun running in circles with mutants chasing you, that's your business. I prefer a map where the humans have a chance against the mutants. -
I'll let you know right now, this is a reason I came up with. It may not have anything to do with the reason why you don't like it, but it does to most. If it doesn't, troll away. (:
A big reason why most of you whiners don't like the new map is because it's not made for camping, note why it's a big somewhat open map. It's open on the outside of the building with lots of space, and lots of corners to turn inside so you can't hide very well unless the mutants are Trainee's. This map is made for moving around, using tactics, and strats. If you can't run around, turn back to shoot the mutants behind you a couple times to knock them back, keep running, and do the same, then you should be in the Rookie Server. Doing that tactic and using strategies like quickly jumping around that corner, or falling down threw that hole, or jumping over a ledge, or surprising the hell out of them by jumping right through them and running the other way, that will get you a win. Or should, unless you got some good ass players in there like Simrock and Riza. :P
Don't like the map? It might be because you're a camping noob with no skill, to put it shrt.
Gonna make me go get my glasses huh? just use normal font -
i like the mode, just half the maps suck.
Strong hold is a big square with a few useless boxes, a wall and a 2 floor building filled with emptyness. i honestly thought it was a joke when they released it. it's so unfinished. absolutely no inspiration/passion put into this map at all. they probably made it in 45 minutes. Just when i thought tranquility would be the worst map ever, they release this.
there's no where to solo. even with a group, there's no good spots. and no where to snipe and survive unless you get 2-4 people boost -
