The "Finishing Blade"

Throughout the first couple of days I've been here in Crossfire I have to say the knife doesn't get used very much. Usually only in snipers or knife only matches is were I see it. So I came up with an idea which could encourage to use knives more, not the exact knife itself, but a variant that I thought up.

This new type of knife would be called the "Finishing Blade". This blade/knife weapon would take up your knife slot in your bag. Usually you have the pull out the knife, though this blade is different.

This blade is strapped on top (or bottom) of the players right hand and is visible using all equipment and weapons. This blades ability is that it can produce a quick and sharp knife attack. This would help if you need to finish someone off during a CQB battle and you have no ammo in your primary and cant switch to your secondary, and vice-verse.

This blades stats are just examples that I thought of:
Damage: 45 to the chest, 25 to the arms and legs, 90 to the head (makes sure no-one can run around and just stab people *cough*black ops*cough*)
Portability: Would add a 2% decrease in speed to whichever gun to person is holding.
Rate Of Fire: These are the times it would take for each class of weapon to stab and go back into the normal position of the gun
AR: 1.0 seconds
SMG:0.75 seconds
Shotguns: 1.0 seconds
Pistols: 0.5 seconds
Grenades: 0.5 seconds
Range: Same as normal knife
Restrictions: This "Finishing Knife" can only be applied to weapons without a scope attachment (since the stab button would be right click)

The motion would go like this. The player would extend their hand and then retract it, with their weapon being held with one hand. The played can still fire their weapon but it would have double the spread and recoil as it normally does (as the player is holding it with one hand). This double spread and recoil would not be applied to pistols.

So what do you think? It is my first suggestion so please go easy on me.

Constructive and positive feedback is welcome.

  • I personally think it's a good idea, except the time after using the knife and retracting back to your previous weapon is weird.

Bad suggestion since the snipers have a scope on them... And the damage ratio (45) should depend on what hit box? The head? The chest? Legs?

In before the Black Ops haters hate.

lol, I fixed it. Was gettin really tired and just accidentally typed it in. Put in some hitbox info too.
  • What will the knife button be switched for?

I'm going to criticize you until it fails, which it will.
  • Knives aren't used much because there boring to use? This is more of a shooting game not knifing game, Although knifing is included, it's not a big part of the game, and shovel is noob enough without adding more high damage knifes.

    :(

I wanted to finish him off.

Another downside is that people rather shoot than knife. Unlike Black Ops, people have according classes and settings and the physics of BlacK Ops is different than CF.

So you're trying to use the Ballistic Knives on BO, and you successfully kill him. That's because of the dash button, most likely. Or maybe because of the multiple camping spots.
Now if you try to knife someone in CF. Simply, you are dead. Or unless you are lucky enough that they missed a whole clip on you. OR if you were camping.
Both games are different and using that kind of knife would be very useful in GM IMO.

You should be able to see the point about now.

I get what you mean. Honestly I knew this thread was gonna have lots of criticism and it was going to get flamed but I just wanted to test the community matureness.

While i write this I see why the ak47 with knife doesn't get used much...

**also the stab would be right click**
  • We are gonna have a kiruki or watever so no .

So then your saying it would over-ride the knife slot for a bayonet attachment for rifles without a special attack?
  • nah i dont liek this idea, if you have no ammo in your primary or secondary pull your knife/axe/shovel out.... simple :)

    .....
I didn't say that , just didn't post it then (forgot)
