Why do i get such bad ping?

Okay it's not mega bad.. But for my connection speed, it's strange.
I get 0-30 ping in UK.. Okay not bad.
But in Alpha, i get 180 + ping..
And also, from about 4 pm- 10pm my ping starts going crazy, 500+ constant. Is anyone else experiencing this? My ping on CoD Blackops remains the same at these times So it's not ISP overload

Your ping spike to 500+ will be from the amount of people that are online to that server between 4-10pm, school's way out @ 4 and kids will bombard online.

As for your ping in None-UK servers, I get the same, roughly around 175.
On the other hand, at around 2am 4 nights ago, my ping in Clan Server was ranging between 95 & 105 which is very strange. I'd like it to keep constant like that but we can't have everything now can we xD -

your UK server pings will be low like they are. If you come to NA servers then your ping is about spot on. Im from NA and i get about 32 ping with 7 mb/s. Its your distance to the server that matters more than how fast your ping is. You internet is a bit excessive but i would take it

If it's to do with how far away from the server you are, how come before the UK servers came in to CF community, that most UK players, including me, got roughly a 110-120 ping in the NA/Canada servers? -

I'm guessing the servers could have been set up for long distance at the time Idk for sure. Your internet provider also determines your ping by their equipment and such. Just because you have really fast downloads doesn't always mean superb ping -

Unfortunately I realise that.
When I was with my old ISP, after 5pm I got 500 ping, with less DL speed as well.
With this ISP, I don't get a 500 ping lag at all, more DL speed & a better connection. -

I have the same problem and so do quite a lot of people I know.
I get a perfect ping of 30-35 in the UK servers but whenever I go to any NA servers it jumps to like 200+
