Things that need to be said and heard: Mini-modding
This should be interesting, to say the least. Please keep your statements polite, mature and non-offensive. I want to see some great conversation on the subject WITHOUT direct reference to any users. I do not want a name-calling session of who you think engages in "mini-modding". Keep your comments on-topic, but general to the subject.

In my honest opinion, there is NOTHING wrong with wanting to help people in our forums IF those are your real intentions. There is a line, of course, between being helpful and acting out of your scope of authority. Does a thread need to be closed? Posts removed? Contact a Moderator. Want to create a discussion thread? As long as you have those intentions of actually helping people, there is nothing wrong with such threads.
Example 1 - Click
Credits to Denxi: "Minimodding is really a state of mind. All those things are fine if you go into it with the only purpose of helping people and you are naturally like that. But if you purposefully put yourself in that state of mind it becomes unhelpful and ridiculous."
The above thread is a great example. Mini-modding? Sure. A bad thing? No. This user did nothing wrong here in directing the OP to the proper thread. Now that OP is more informed on where to post such information the next time that situation arises. Helpful? Yes. Wrong? I don't think so.
Example 2 - Click
I hope I am correct in assuming the OP's intentions here are to reach out to people as I try to do with similar threads. I applaud the efforts here and this should be more of a common thread than not. Sadly, a lot of people do not like to create discussion threads because they often get called out as a "mini-mod" for some unknown reason. Moderators are not the only people who can create discussion threads. I encourage anyone who wants to hold an intelligent discussion, please do so.
Within minutes of this thread going up, someone posted, "You're not a mod. Don't do the discuss thing." People should not be discouraged from posting discussion threads. Granted, there is a line yet again between a health, intelligent discussion and a useless thread that contributes nothing to the community. However, if people want to help, they should not be discouraged to by those who think they are trying to mini-mod. It's kind of ridiculous.
In Closing:
Should we support mini-modding or not? As I have stated there is a right way and wrong way to doing things. A lot of times, users get carried away while trying to help and start to post in a rude manner, often hurting the situation more than helping it. Should it be discouraged? Community involvement is a key aspect that often helps a particular group grow. Can it be done without causing a negative reaction from other users? People should WANT to help other people, but there are some things best left for those in a position to do something about it (Moderators). Where is that line drawn? Thoughts? Comments?

Mini modding isn't wrong like 90% of the people say. Just because those "minimods" like to help on the forums that doesn't mean they are more or less a person. They are people like you, but they just want to help the forum they like.
And to be honest, I'm pretty much tired of reading things like "stop being a wannabemod and stop discussing like u made the rules" that's just stupid.
Mini modding is helping, nothing more.WishMunzta wrote: »Mini modding is like copying people and then you can't show who you really are.
What? Do you even know what we are talking about here? -
It's not a bad thing if you really are just helping people. But most users get carried away with the "This thread should be closed" or "You are breaking this rules and that rule", etc.
It's gotten to the point that people ask me about their threads, if they should post them. Simply because they are afraid of getting trash for wanting to post an intelligent thread. Why do people get called a Mini-Moderator for posting intelligently? It's ridiculous. People should not be discouraged from starting great threads for stupid reasons like that. -
IMO Mini-Modding isn't about posting helpful tips or answering people's questions. That's helpful, and a behavior that everyone should have. I believe that mini-modding is that person who say "I'm gonna ban you" or "Do you want an infraction?". Those are the really mini-mods.
As an example, Hi made some discussions on these boards and ended up being called a MOD want-to-be. That's pretty much sad, because in the end people that want to discuss intelligent subjects only want to do that - discuss. And that's not wrong, is it? No, it's not.
I've also been called MOD wannabe, because I'm polite and such. I ignore, simple as that. I say what I think, I say what goes on my head, I say what I like. Never got infracted for expressing my opinion, and you won't, except if you talk the truth or your opinion rudely.
So answering Polleus: "Should we support mini-modding or not?" - No, being helpful is not being mini-mod. Being mini-mod is that kind of person that I stated above. Making a decent discussion and answering people's questions is not a MOD exclusive thing.
Besides that, if someone really want to be a Moderator, well I don't really see any problem in there. If you think that you have the required skills to moderate these tempestuous forums and that you'll do great having some extra powers, then apply for it. -

You'll get called a "something" by people with low IQ so don't worry about that. They think they are cool for insulting, they just look like fools for doing it. -

You are wrong. Minimods = you ; They like to help.
Then there's uberminimods which are annoying and think they rule the world. -

You're calling people idiots? BAN! Jk:s
Thanks for the tip. I also dont see anything wrong with wanting to help. Like if someone suggests a plasma cannon or RPG, I give them the link to guns not to suggest. Thats how its supposed to be right? Nothing wrong with that? -

Exactly. People shouldn't shy away from helping the uninformed. That's how a community should function, members helping other members. -
There you go. A low IQ argument.
I was kidding to you. And overall my grades are better than yours on school so your point is invalid.
And for people that do not know Graça is his mom xD!
Anyways, on topic. Yeah perhaps I maybe am a little "Mini-MOD" if your definition of it is being helpful. Then yes, I am one. -

I know you were kidding and so do I. Your humor is broke after your full week ill.
What I got 19 and you got 18 WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT wat
Anyways, on topic. WHAT -
Maybe we need to really define what a MOD is supposed to do in a community like ours. I don't see them responsible for making active discussion threads more than anyone else. The general guidelines are usually made by GMs, well that's what I noticed. The general moderation is thus mostly discipline in a helpful way. I don't rely on MODs to give us open discussion subjects, everyone can. But of course I would expect them to enforce some rules that were instructed.
Mini-modding? I don't know about that, I would refer those unhelpful and egoistical people that think they can talk down anyone as if they represented some kind of authority in here. I wouldn't call anyone a mini-mod if all they do is make thoughtful and interested thread that helps build a more clever community.
I love discussing, I love exchanging ideas and smart subjects but I find myself pretty distressed by the number of useless threads or just some people trolling and fooling around. Let's face it, it's always the same people polluting threads with their inside jokes and own memes. This isn't 4chan so I don't know why we're having the same level of general idiocity.
If anyone have ideas for a constructive discussion thread, I say go on and start typing! We could use some of those threads nowadays... -

Now base yourself on all school subjects my love
And my humor is better than ever, otherwise I wouldn't make a joke about "La Dona Gracitaaaa" xDD -
I'm not sure if you're actually sober right now.WishMunzta wrote: »Mini modding is like copying people and then you can't show who you really are.
My opinion on mini-modding is exactly the same as Us3r's. I've always considered helpful people on the forums as a kind of... "Support Team"?
Mini-modding on the other hand to me it's acting in 100% like you actually are a moderator, when in fact, you are NOT.
People who throw insults for no apparent reason (in this case: "OMFG U ****!!!11") are obviously idiots, therefore they shouldn't be taken seriously in any way, shape, or form. Just ignore them - forumers who want to post "intelligent discussion" threads NEED to know that.[MOD]Polleus wrote: »Sadly, a lot of people do not like to create discussion threads because they often get called out as a "mini-mod" for some unknown reason.
@Us3r & Neof: stay on topic you PTs.

Exactly. People shouldn't be accused of Mini-Modding for posting intelligent statements and/or discussions. It's pretty ridiculous really. -

I think That , When i Write about my situation About Dcing in Tech Support No MOD , or etc cares much ....
Example1 - I Write on Forums , About it , no1 tends too reply ,

In Closing - I Really think Someone , That have a time & know what their doing should help me out ! -
There's different types of mini-mods.
A. Poser
Person who used to troll 24/7 on the forums then all of sudden, wants to be a Mod and sound intelligent so they turn there back on their past.
B. Real
Person who comes into a forums and is nice and intelligent.
C. Clueless
Person who has no idea what he/she are doing and gives out wrong information.
Now, "Poser" may be an incorrect term, but I assume you understand what I am trying to say.
Mini-Modding is fine, I'm all for it. It prevents future mistakes for people, right?
But, I am also very against people who are two faced mini mods, those that mini-mod on the forums, then all of the sudden turn their back and troll somewhere else.
I'm probably wrong in your perspective, but my opinion is mine.

"Impersonating forum moderators and/or any other employees associated to Z8Games and all games hosted within is strictly prohibited. Do not break this rule. You will be permanently banned. Also, do not “forum cop”!"
"Impersonating" means taking the name of some MOD or GM in charge in order to get benefits from it. And from benefits I mean something like accounts. Here we're talking about people that do want to become a moderator and speak like if the person was one/close to.There's different types of mini-mods.
