How to improve?

I suck at FPS games, how can I improve, particularly at sniping. I use a headset but I still can't tell what direction people are coming from. Even with rifles I seem to just die in 1 second. I want to be like those nerdy viet and chinese players who have built in aimbots in their head and snipe you .00002 seconds after coming around the corner. Has anyone every been really crappy at FPS games and over time improved and is now pro? I've been playing FPS games forever and I just don't improve at all, I don't know what else I can do -.-

  • Play for a year, watch some pro clips... soon you'll turn like me :P

I've started online FPS gaming since 06 and I don't improve. People I play with like those chinese players just jump around the corner and instant headshot you midair, like wtf how is that even possible? How can someone have reactions that fast >.> Idk I just don't improve at all. When people strafe it's so hard for me to hit them lol

Tape the corners of your eyes to your head so they look like mine, You now have wide screen vision and can see things you cant see before, hope this helps :D

I'm kidding, the only real thing to do is practice, you may not think much, but sport reflex training helps.
  • Maybe u have mental issues that make u cant react fast. no offense.

Either quit the game.... or keep practicing....
  • Uhhh. If your intelligent, you tend to be good at the game.

Other than that, it's all about reaction time. If it's terrible, go outside and play on a rec team.
  • Did someone mention u need good computer gears, if u play a today fps game using a 1998 computer with mechanical mouse and ... Dont even ask why u suk.

Maybe you have mental issues that render you incapable of using proper grammar. No offense.

I used to be really ****ty when I first started CrossFire as well. I'd have like a 0.3 KDR in every game. I'm still not that great, usually ending the day at 1.3 KDR but it's clearly an improvement. Your reflexes should increase over time. Plus, spraying is a terrible, terrible habit. When you see a guy about 4 feet away from you, it's tough to not spray. Short bursts really help. Over time, you may continually use a gun with a recoil pattern you know so well, you might be able to spray but move your mouse accordingly so it hits the body at all times; but that takes great skill and time.

Or you could just buy a Scar Light or an M12...

    trololol

tis teh truthz men...jk and gl
  • just so you know this game isn't like warrock. you cannot just run and shoot. cause i know it took me some time to adapt between the two games a long time ago. maybe this is the same problem you are going through?
  • not gnna lie, i used to be crap, but ive play fps games since well cs:1.7. ive grown up on them but i was still crap.

my 1st account had like a 1.6kd i started again and i now hold like a 2.4. I learnt to play, using some of the best players, malte taught me to Ak and i taught myself to snipe. Just watch good players play, and if you see a particularly good player, save the replay and watch how they play.

Also its all about map knowledge, if you know the map better than your right hand knows ur ****, your doing it right. obviously if your dieing alot your acting like everyone else. if you want to improve try playing differnetly, like if u usually rush long b in ee, try holding back and camping in hotel or try just camping bridge.

try and play in ways that no1 else does, bascially making you not predictable. try instead of running round a corner, do a small peek as most people wont aim directly at the corner as they cant react that fast. then as youve just seen where they are, then jump crouch out and take aim...

Mainly of all Burst, unless you are in the "no-scope" range, note i dont no scope but for people who do its not very far at all.

    Maxi
  • Dont be a try hard. I usually have by best matches when Im not constantly looking at the score and trying to get the ace. Try playing defensively and offensively but ultimatly it comes down to playing more and being able to predict what people are going to do next based on what you see other people do.

Going to alpha and shooting at SPOPs wouldnt be a bad idea either

Each FPS has different kinda style, for example CF is different from CA, you mainly spray in CA while most guns in CF has recoil. You have to get use to the gameplay.

And learn to QS, it helps a lot, put a dot in the middle of the screen for like a week till you start QS'ing slowly. At least that's how I started it

  • Go to alpha and kill noobs for about a year.

Then gradually progress into bigger prey.

then become like me. Kickable for being awesome.

    There's a few ways obviously.

    1) Quit trying and get hacks. (not recommended odds are eventually you'll be banned)

    2) Trial and Error, play with people just above your skill level till that's easy and continue onward keeping it challenging.(Good method is join a clan and play together)

    3) If you want a better Bunny Hop as a Ghost just eat a Bunny.

Finally all jokes aside, sound. Headphones aren't just useful in GM. A lot of people in SnD don't listen. Take advantage of this, sure you'll be called a chammer but if you have no chams then who cares. Shift walk and learn to use sound. It gives you an ability many times to prefire or even knife someone in a clutch and embarrass them. All around just control recoil burst at distance spray but control it in short range, always aim and use sound and you'll be fine. :)
  • PRO TIPS FROM AN OLD NEWB!
    1. remember whats your ping, it can make a HUGE difference in this game.

2.don't always aim for the head, just spray a couple rounds into their chest(about 3-5) then BAM , dead.

3.don't move while shooting(learned this from pro on youtube) shoot 2 bursts thenmove left shoot 2 burst then right, continue until target dies.

    btw, where do you live?

I'm not sure if you already know this but here goes:

Don't stay scoped, by doing so you won't know where players are coming from (not unless you expect them to come around a specific corner etc in that instance stay scoped).

A sniper rifle always points to the middle of your screen, scoped or unscoped, so you don't need to stay scoped, staying scoped only impairs your vision especially your perifial vision.

What you need to do is:

    1) Identify a target as quickly as possible, when there multiple areas an enemy can attack from then scan the entire screen using your perifial vision can help.

    2) Line up the target center screen whilst remaining unscoped.

    3) When you have him pretty center screen then scope (you should be on target or very close).

    4) Go for the kill (if he is not moving), if moving just aim a little in front.

    5) He is dead:D
  • My tips for being good

In case you are wondering where I come from my IGN is tinamou1 look me up

    ANYWAYS

    1. Get a solid gun, M4 is a great starter gun even though they lowered the starting gp, if you level up a couple times then you can get it with the first 10,000gp bonus.

    2. TURN YOUR MOUSE SENSITIVITY DOWN. Yes, it takes getting used to, but it is so good! You can aim much better with a sniper, but this also helps with rifling.

    3. LEARN TO CONTROL RECOIL. If you have a high-recoil gun, like the ak-47(me has gold, hehe), then pull the gun down slowly as you shoot, and ALWAYS burst. Don't spray unless you use an smg...or the SL.

    4. When you are playing with a sniper use 5x scope to scan, then zoom in at 10x for the kill. You can be much more precise.

    5. Just have fun. Don't be under too much pressure to win all the time, and play this game; you'll get better.

BTW: I am vietnamese and yes, I have an aimbot "built into my head"

I love the noobs who cry hack.

    holy grammer nazi, settle down.
  • Ok, I live in B.C canada. On west coast server I get 30 ping average, alpha and etc I get 56 ping average. I don't stay in scope and just sit in a corner I'm not that dumb lol. I don't really know how to find out how to control my spray pattern. I use awm with deagle camo in bag 2, bag 1 is either an M4A1 or Silver AK. Usually in prison on the two towers in the middle I jump to the entrance and quickly snipe someone from the other side lol. I've seen people jump around the corner, and while jumping in mid-air snipe and kill me. How the hell do people have that fast reactions lol. The thing I have most trouble with is close range with rifles. I'm decent in sniping but nowhere near "great" at it. At long range I burst with m4 or AK and close range I usually spray because It's just my instinct to. What should I do mid range and close range? Strafe? Burst? With sniping I have problems with people who move to the sides (strafe) and alot of the pro CN players just seem to strafe and still able to headshot me 8/10 times. I guess I shouldn't compare myself to someone way better than me but still I don't understand what I'm doing wrong lol. I can sort of tell where people are with my headset but not completely, I do shift walk frequently so I can listen too. My main problems are close range against assault, and being a sniper against someone who is strafing with an assault rifle. I'll try to watch videos on youtube but It's going to be hard to change my playstyle because I've been playing my way for 4+ years.
