Cursor flutter?!

A few hours before this all started, my Crossfire was playing without any errors. Then, after taking a break for two hours, I came back and tried to start up CF. I started up CF, but suddenly I got cursor flutter everywhere "it rapidly changes from 'arrow' to 'working in background' and CF runs extremely slowly. When I start a game I get about 0.5 FPS (I usually get 100). This only happens when I play CF. I restarted my computer, and reinstalled Crossfire too. Nothing helps. Is there ANY help for me?

~As a side note, the cursor flutter begins when the G4BOX starts up, and suddenly it's taking up over 50% CPU.

~Another side note: I uninstalled it twice. The third time I installed Crossfire, the patcher messed up - it got stuck patching rez/RF019.REZ and would not continue.

  • You should get some screenshots or make a video of it, it will be easier to others to help you..
And the sensitivity of your computer's mouse may be the cause. [Not sure]
  • Do a virus scan. It eats up alot of your memory and infects most of your files, including the non-obvious files, CrossFire, for example.

What OS you got? (Operating System)
Check it out on Computer > Right-click > Properties
If you do figure out, message me, then just run a safe mode virus scan. Press F8 before booting and then just open up your virus scanner.
You're in high risk of your computer being destroyed if you don't have one.

Or you can just update your graphics card, by searching for DxDiag and on the Display tab, write down all the info you can. Then type it down on Google and find your updated graphics card, then download it. Don't let lag rush you.
  • Well, thing is, this only happens with Crossfire. I play Counter Strike (1.6, Condition Zero, Source) and I play Battlefield (2 and 2142) with absolutely no issues at all. I ran a virus, spyware, and rootkit scan of my Crossfire files and came up with nothing. I just don't know what's eating my computer...

Additionally, sometimes it actually stops...until I start a game or leave one. Then the problems begin again.
  • Sorry about the double post, but some more details...
I tried to record the cursor flutter with Fraps. When I played the video, the mouse cursor was completely still, without flashing to "working in background"...this completely baffles me. Unless AVG and SuperAntiSpyware have completely fallen on their face, a virus has taken control of...just one file...?

And if anyone is a pro with HijackThis log, could you look over this logfile for me? Much appreciated.
