Selecting a faction side???

i have read the page concerning selecting a faction side.I dont fully understand.I have a clan already, does selecting a faction affect my clan in anyway??Can some1 explain this to me

No, the only difference it makes is when you go to your profile it shows a BL or GR icon for the side you chose.
