Does low fps = solid ping?
Hi all!!!
I mean when I play the game with my VAIO(32 bit) lab, I get 125 fps or higher and my ping spikes b/n 60 - 200 with an average of 85-90, but when I play the game using my bro lab which is TOSHIBA(64 bit), I get solid 60 ping that rarely spike (65 max) though its fps is horrible (10-50). My labs hard disk/CPU/graphics is higher/better than that of TOSHIBA So ... Title?

I doubt FPS and Ping are related...
FPS: How many "Frames Per Second" you see. Less frames means you have a slower gameplay.
Ping: How quick you can send something from your connection to the server in UK/Canada.
^^ I really don't think they are related anyhow....
(I'm not very good at this whole PC business xD) -

There is no enough information provided to be certain, that lower fps in your case stabilize your latency a.k.a ping. There are a lot more factors to consider in your case than the hardware components of your laptop(s), you have to consider software as well which may cause lag spikes. However, I did notice that FPS below 100 helps with the registry. I guess the game engine may be worse in reality, than I ever thought

Yes, and no!Indomezu_xD wrote: »Ping is server lag.
FPS is screen lag.
Why?
Because, when you have a huge FPS drop, you will lag!
FPS drop shows that your computer (excluding of course in this case the game engine itself, which fyi in crossfire is horrible) is struggling trying to render your game. If it is struggling on the game it will have problem with other processes too, i.e lagging your network connection

May be, but even if I use the Ethernet cable still the ping spike exists for my lap though it is smaller compared to while using wireless. If you use wireless, then you can be certain that the laptop with stable pings has a better antenna. Why you even play the game on wireless :P I would never do that! :P -
The biggest question is how often the game updates with the server, in counter strike series
you can increase the update rate manually. In crossfire it's unknown. Only CF programmers know, and I don't think they are going to share this knowledge. For example, in cs the fps can have a huge role on the registry. -
It's not maybe, in wireless you have a huge enemy that's called electromagnetic interference. You won't be able to match your wireless connection to your wired equivalent. In nowadays networking, wire always wins against wireless. Wireless is not even close to match wire(i.e ethernet cable) data throughput (incorrectly called as bandwidth).HonestDude wrote: »May be, but even if I use the Ethernet cable still the ping spike exists for my lap though it is smaller compared to while using wireless.
When you use ethernet cable and you still lag, (considering the other laptop doesn't have this problem) you should consider to investigate your software related problems. (background programs, services). You can even try to change or update your network adapter drivers. Motherboard drivers may help as well. -
Ping= Where the server is hosted and how fast is your internet connection.
FPS=How awesome and pro your computer is.
Solution 1: Get a new computer! 100% Yes
Solution 2: Get better internet! 100% Yes
Solution 3: Give me your money and other awesome stuff! 101% Yes
There ya go;) -

HUmmmm toshiba? I bought a toshiba too last week. 8G ram, nvidia graphic card with the intel i7 processor. Its just amazing playing crossfire now...
Its so easy to kill...
I normally have 30-40ping, with 100-200fps in uk severs. When I plat against brs(in the brs servers), I get more ping like 100-130 but also more 150 - 250fps. But brs hack a lot so... they were runing throw the walls.. -
