Crossfire has in-game chat in which, when playing, you can chat to players on both sides, or only the players in your team or clan. You can also send private (whisper) messages to players. There is also a game lobby where you can chat to anyone hanging around.

There are also 4 macros you can set for sending quick messages (F5-F8)

There isn't subtitles but to be honest you don't need them as the games are easy to understand once you get used to it. Certain messages are displayed such as when a bomb has been planted and you can always see how many players are remaining on each team.

You would be able to play team death match, S&D, mutation mode and free for all.
There is also ghost mode, however you may find this very difficult as part of being on the shooting side involves listening out for breathing and footsteps, which you wouldn't be able to do. You can usually see ghosts when they move, unless they are proficient at bunny hopping.

Oh and you don't need a mic. There is no built-in function for the use of mic. People use other external programs to do this, but the majority of players don't bother with it.

When logged in you can type in /w cybercat and a space then the message and hit enter to send a private message. The player receives this whether they are in a game or not.
