How The F*ck Do I Use XFire?

So I just downloaded XFire, and I have no idea how it works. Is there some sort of server/chat room where everyone on Cross Fire chats? Do you have to set up your own? Can you only chat with friends? Help! My xfire is imundefined, if that helps.

Bump; I'm still confused. I know I automatically connect to something when I log in to Cross Fire, but I don't know what to do from there.

it's like msn, you have to add the person you want to chat to, there are chatrooms but there aren't many that are active.

Ah, so you DO have to add people first. I thought there would be, like, huge chatrooms where people all converge and just kinda find each other.
