Ping cap a server *rage*

God dam you Polleus

You're so kind and stuff. Apologizing for something you didn't do ^.^. Respect
It wasn't your fault. It was like 4 or 5 weeks before you became a mod. But even if flaming/trolling started, couldn't they just delete those posts so it count be a nice decent thread?
Btw, why does it still say Holy Knight in your rank or whatever?
-
QQing is not like crying (tears) but more like complaining about something for me
And i think that the song you just posted suck (well it's not to my liking)
JEEZ this is the answer to all of your posts : i really hate people like you, your inability to think logicaly makes me mad, and on the other hand your ability to stop and wreck any topic and discussion leading to or providing solution makes me dream about running over you in a car (ty the thread maker for this idea)
This thread +1, im European, but we share those problems, we even share the BRs....
And +1 for Polleus too -
[MOD]Polleus wrote: »Then it shouldn't have been deleted. However, this discussion has been brought up PLENTY of times and has PLENTY of times been answered. There is obviously no immediate future on SmileGate expanding on this idea and if/when there is, G4Box will let us know. Until then, the answer is still the same.
The reason this type of thread is usually shut down is because most of the Moderators would rather cut the potential for a bad thread (Trolling, spamming, etc) before it even starts. Since this one has not, yet, it remains open. But it is moving to the Suggestions area. Apologies.
Can I ask why? I mean if its been brought up SO many times you would think SmileGate would open their eyes. Why can't you make ONE caped sever? I mean yea thats pretty personal and may not be any of my business but I'm very curious. -

You can ask why just as much as I can. Your guess is as good as mine. I'll tell it to you straight. We as Moderators have no more say in the matter of these things than you do. All we do is try and keep the peace within these forums and make a manageable atmosphere for everyone.
Logic says SmileGate would open their eyes. It makes sense from a business point of view that putting a cap on one or two servers for each region would benefit the overall atmosphere of this game. Why has nothing been done up to now? I honestly don't know. But we have to make do with what we have. That's all we can do right? That and think positively towards these suggestions becoming a reality. It does no good to "rage", it really won't get us anywhere.
I do appreciate the mature discussion. I don't mind threads that don't blatantly disrespect any parties, whether it be the companies or a particular group. Usually I close a thread down not because of what is written but HOW it is written. -

So and honestly NO OFFENCE you guys as Moderators are kinda like puppets? I mean if all you do is maintain the forums and keep the forums clean and are not told much sometimes it makes me disturbed because there are so many GREAT ideas people have in the community and if you guys can only ask SmilGate to add these ideas it makes me think why bother suggesting? -
FROM A STRICTLY BUSINESS POINT OF VIEW:
Adding this feature would be a real money maker. Z8 Number cruncher look ---> (Positive ROI)
FROM YOUR CUSTOMERS POINT OF VIEW:
Je>sus god damn christ, do you know how annoying it is when someone teleports all over the place while you try to shoot them only to be killed by their teammate?
OR how much I wanna run over the next BR I see with my car when 1/2 my shots don't reg?
- A: "Scrim, blah blah blah" : Already do but pubs are supposed to be the basis of any fkn game.
OR how annoying it is to have line after line of broken English crammed into my eyeballs?
- A: "Block Chat" : No I don't wanna block all chat, some is useful.
OR how fkn mind blowingly annoying it is when you see someone type "aff 38 ping kika kik" about you?
*It's almost like the people who made the game never played against someone who is lagging badly.
Could you PLEASE ping cap just ONE server for ****s sake?
Yeah I know, you don't do the developing, but I'm pretty sure you handle the servers so how hard could this really be?
I mean really, fun game you got here but ****! The ping issues are a friggin ridiculous glaring oversight.
PS: I thought Brasil was borderline 3rd world, how the hell did they get so many computers.
**PSS: So, can any member of the staff that actually makes things happen in game (be-it calling Neowiz/Smilegate or handling it in house) comment on the issue CF has with ping and/or if there will ever be ping capped servers in CF?
If you do answer this question which I'm sure ALL of your American/Canadian players would love to see, please don't give a vague answer but a real timeline.
Thank you very much.
Love, America & Canada.

That's the unfortunate world of business my friend. SmileGate is the boss. What the boss says is what goes around here. G4Box can kindly put their two cents on what is better for this version, but is ultimately SmileGate's decision on what is to be implemented into the game. SmileGate owns the rights to the game of Cross Fire & SmileGate gives G4Box the permission to license and distribute Cross Fire to NA and EU. We, as Moderators, can certainly pass on those ideas to our "superiors" I guess you could call them at G4Box and provide our input on certain ideas that give them more weight than others, but that's as far as we go.
On not telling us the inter-workings of SmileGate and G4Box, this is simple. We are a volunteer position, hired as Forum Moderators. We do not have any legal grounds as a real, hired employee. It's simple business practice that we are not told everything. We are on a need-to-know basis and there are many things that we don't need to know as Moderators. That's just how these things go. -

I'm just in shock. Like I said theres so many good ideas almost gone to waste! If thats the business world then God it sucks.
I feel as though if you part of the company because your hired by SmileGate that you have every right to know and I mean not EVERY single little detail that goes in between SmileGate and G4Box but you should be more informed on whats going on rather than just be told heres when the next patch is tell the community. -

We are not hired by SmileGate though. We are chosen as Forum Moderators by G4Box to moderate the Z8Games forums. See how it works? We are the middle men. But again, we are still volunteers. There are certain things that we are meant and not meant to know. That's the nature of this business. It's not our job to negotiate with Smile Gate, therefore we don't get all the ins and outs of their daily activities. -

This wasn't meant to be a "hate on mods" thread. They are just mods, who strived to be in the position they are in.
This was directed towards Saidin and/or whoever else runs the Z8 company.
Seeing as I went to the Smilegate website and it's all Korean, I can't really speak to them or I would. Then again, I don't pay them for a product, I/we pay Z8. That's probably why they pass the game off to portals I would imagine. -
First of all, I've seen people suggesting to kick pings over 100. Wow, I'm French and sometimes I'm at 150~170 ping on UK servs. The limit would be better like 375 ping, if it's applied.
But... Why do you want to kick high pings ? That's not the cause of unregistering shots.
Sometimes I play against players who have 200~300 ping and it's OK. Some times I'm against a f***ing lagger with 40 ping.
How ? Cause ping and lag aren't related, which you all don't seem to understand. When somebody has high ping, it just delays the gameplay a little, but no data is lost, he still receives bullets a little later.
But when someone lags, it's because he gets either a temporary disconnexion or a ping fluctuation. And all the bullets fired during this lag are unregistered, making him a quite annoying tank. Note that I personally see a lot more lowpingers-laggers than highpingers.
Note on the axe/shovel/katana lag : this one is strange, I don't know if it's an actual lag (i.e. server-sided) or a non-registering client (i.e. client-sided). Sometimes your full ammo did no dmg at all, so it seems to be server-sided, sometimes you see some crazy dmg (I dealt 80k one time), which seems to be client-sided. Devs must know... -

LOLED at you. YOu have 150-170 ping, right ? And you r saying that more low ping people tank, right ? Its caused by your own lagg. -
I can't see why the devs won't give us more options when creating a match.
Make a ping option, you can choose the absolute maximum ping that you want and if someone's ping spikes or fluxes then it wouldn't be taken into consideration but if someone's ping rises above the ping max for say 30 seconds then the player is automatically kicked.
We could also have rank minimums. -
It really does suck that there are great and pertinent thoughts and opinions that just get totally waylaid by the uselessness of this entire place. I just don't get why the mods aren't screaming their heads off instead of shutting everyone down.
IMO you're in your position why? Because you want to do something beneficial or you want to shut down everyone all day long that's trying to help?
It'd be much better if you took all the anger and frustration everyone here has and keep yelling it at the people above you. Even if it gets you canned, who gives a fu.ck? At least you'll be fired from an unpaid, useless position for trying to accomplish something worthwhile. -
Suhu_uNknoWn wrote: »LOLED at you. YOu have 150-170 ping, right ? And you r saying that more low ping people tank, right ? Its caused by your own lagg.
Read posts before answering them, please. I said I SOMETIMES have 150 ping, most of the time I'm at 45~90.
And I didn't say at all that the less ping you have, the more you lag. I just said that most of the laggers I've seen had a low ping, because most of them were on a poor Wi-Fi.
Of course there are lagging highpingers and non-lagging lowpingers. As I said at first ping and lag aren't related. -
Ping caps aren't' needed for all servers, no. There's enough cot'damn NA Servers with dust on them. Give players a place to play where there's locks. You can keep your Alpha, Bravo, Charlie open for all [80% infested with EU players most the time]. Test the lock on Fox Trot. I can't fathom how this is ignored. This is a PING BASED GAME. Allowing 140 Ping to play with 20 Ping is just asinine. If the server were actually stable and less junked up there MIGHT be an advantage...but now? No. I can't wrap my head around this idea, haha. The number of empty servers in a day....remove them or do something with them; Save some money in those money hungry pockets you call your own [Less content until the servers are where they SHOULD be].
I suggested the cleanest method of all of this LONG AGO and it was ignored. If you want change and/or something that suits you or general gaming better you BEST BET is to take your business elsewhere. It's all been suggested. So I welcome your voice [post] to the deadzone....Suggestions in this game are like the connectivity on the iPhone4.

That would defeat the purpose of being in a position where you are expected to be professional. -
That makes no sense, from a bussiness point of view, if they were to add this feature they wouldn't get anything close to what they get now money-wise.
No actually if they capped ONE server for America and Canada a large group of people would probably spend more money on the game.
A ping capped server would make the game more competitive without having to organize scrims.
On that note it would also make scrims themselves more fairly matched up if one team isn't tanking.
So, no they would not lose money, they would make money. Running one server isn't all that expensive. -

Dude really, what the hell is a "low-pinger lagger"? That is something that doesn't exist. If you mean someone who "ping spikes", everyone does that from time to time, and people with high ping certainly seem to do it more.
Even if they have a "steady lag" such as a 375 ping, I don't want to die after I run around a corner! That's turbo gay! It makes the game feel sh1tty.
Also, a cap at 370 ping would actually be better than what we have now LOL, but would still be letting laggers into our games to tank/delay all the actions deal by/to them which makes the gameplay suck. -

This is really the best solution to the problems of this game. +1
It would fix:
Weapon crying.
Ping issues.
Nade spamming.
Armor crying.
Which is basically all of the problems in this game besides from the hacks and glitchers. -

Thanks for posting man, maybe if we get all of the people who support this thread to drop in once in a while it will get noticed as the obvious necessity that it is.
I figured I'd at least try before I switch to another game. -

You're pretty much on the money, but I'd imagine some of them would like to have their mod position as a future job reference or maybe a way to gain future employment from Z8. -

I'm trying to keep it civil and logical. -

[MOD]Polleus wrote: »That would defeat the purpose of being in a position where you are expected to be professional.
Negatory. It would put your position to some kind of positive use. If you're doing nothing but patrolling a completely unnecessary forum where people are angry and trying to voice their concerns and make some positive change but you all keep censoring them, shutting everyone down, keeping everything nice and quiet and peaceful, where is the benefit? I mean, I couldn't do things that way. I'd rather get booted out (like I inevitably do around here) trying to accomplish something rather than be a detriment to progressive change. You're pretty much on the money, but I'd imagine some of them would like to have their mod position as a future job reference or maybe a way to gain future employment from Z8.
Lulz really? If someone came in with "Forum mod." on their application I would laugh in their face. That's like that EQ commercial where he puts his level and class on his resume. It's just rediculous. -
i definitely agree with this
but:
1 only 2-3 servers should do that. there are some people with high ping but DONT lagg. it would be unfair to them
2 there should be something so that if you have only 1 random ping spike you dont automatically get kicked from the game i.e. if you have over 'x' ping for 'y' seconds you get kicked out of the server
3 this should happen in all the places where servers are. UK, US south, west coast, canadia (thats right, CANADIA)
good idea but whoever does the modding with servers should fix this.
btw what specific purpose does each company who makes cf have like smilegate g4box and z8games? -
Dude really, what the hell is a "low-pinger lagger"? That is something that doesn't exist. If you mean someone who "ping spikes", everyone does that from time to time, and people with high ping certainly seem to do it more.
When I talk about "laggers", I mean someone who has a visible lag : he stops suddenly and teleports, tanks shots, and shoots bullets bunches instead of fluidly spray. And I often see that with people who are on Wi-Fi and have a very low ping but lots of lags.
And as I said, I am sometimes highpinging or playing against highpingers, and it's OK if they don't lag : you can see they're pinging only when you kill them, the badge takes a little time to come.
The solution wouldn't be to cap ping, but to script a system that verifies lags. If someone lags too much, he won't be able to join a room, that's all. I don't know if such a script can exist though...
