It did in 2009, why can't it do in 2011?
Its just performance game
Not in due form
Chinese CF Portal made CF a FINANCIAL game not a ENTERTAINMENT game
WCG is great, dont let CF embarrass the game -

Developers are not doing the correct things on their end to make CrossFire worth being in events such as WCG. The casted match from WCG (QuadV) was a joke, it was full of the SPOP/STAR models being played by teams of young teens, using all kinds of colorful weaponry, while playing a bunch of random modes and maps. (Along with the spectator glitches, and so on.) Your trying to put this in the same category as a game like Counter Strike? The recent WEM scene seemed serious, rules were good, ect. Even so I would not be surprised at all if WCG flat out refused CrossFire.

the developers don't decide the rule sets wcg used, so this spop/star thing isn't a valid point -
As nice as it would, there's only 15, AT MOST teams in CF NA & EU that are active. WCG will do their homework and see that. Than they'll NEED licensing rights for the game + dev box [LAN], designated servers play a factor. That's 6 Qualifiers of Cross Fire in teh United States @ 12 Team [CF], and a small margin of cross over teams....Frankly, it's more of an expense apposed to an income. Your also looking at COMPLETE control. WCG is IDENTICAL to MLG in the aspect of control. Don't know if ANYONE remembers [or even knows], but Cross Fire USED TO have a spot on the WCG polls; Cross Fire [Korea], that's how Chinese Cross Fire got its' sponsorships with Razer & Mountain Dew.
So when thinking of this you [and WCG] will factor in; Demographic, exposure, current marketing, licensing, worth, etc...G4Box will have to release ALOT of their restraints including the distribution of rights and server boxes. voting for Cross Fire in Other DOES merge with the other FPS, and worldwide, CF alone doesn't stand on the level of play, exposure and distribution as say....Halo, COD & CS. It's a HUGE risk to work with F2P's...AVA had one year to prove it and got dropped, and that game is more appealing to their power user base. Sadly, even CS is loosing it's steam on WCG, but that won't ever get dropped until the game is ABSOLUTELY dead.
It's not about the votes, the votes only bring recognition. They'll compile the top votes, present them on their panel and outline and construct the 2011 Event structure and calendar [PR]. Your looking at Cross Fire Vs. Halo + Call of Duty + Counter-Strike.
Hate to sound negative, but this is brute honesty, logic and marketing & branding knowledge [experience]. Hope it makes sense to people that don't quite KNOW the world of marketing and public relations [event]. -
Thanks for the simple explanations.Au_Courant wrote: »Hate to sound negative, but this is brute honesty, logic and marketing & branding knowledge [experience]. Hope it makes sense to people that don't quite KNOW the world of marketing and public relations [event].
There is also a secondary factor here that most people don't think about. When we do an event like vote for the MMOSite stuff and get rewards we work with those sites to get the coding necessary to make your vote count towards something we can track.
As soon as we can track it then we can control it, limit the votes for example. And more importantly to those who want prizes, give prizes out.
If we just decided to give away some zp for every vote for wcg then we'd have a nightmare on our hands with the millions of accounts claiming to have voted a million times and all wanting free zp. There's no control on the matter.
Now to be a bit positive, we love it when people throw our names out there and spread the word that Cross Fire can be a legitimate contender in these competitive places. Sure we may not have the same backing as some of those tried-and-true fps games, it's still nice to hear that people want our game to be represented.
So please, go ahead and vote for us if you think it's legit. To have people check us out will always contribute to the improvement of the game and draw more people in to playing.
So don't let the realities always get in the way of some of the hopes! Knowing there are people that want us in the WCG means that we should attempt to run more and more and more events. Competitive or otherwise, people want to be involved in the game. It's nice to see! -

Crossfire is currently in a lot of countries National WCG events. All we need is for them to make it a world final. I also don't think they will do 6 qualifiers for WCG. They haven't done that many in a while from what I remember.
And designated servers aren't a necessity. The servers from WEM were ran on not that powerful of machines. (core i5, 4 gigs of ram, gtx260) The crossfire client scales really really well to lan play. It is by far one of the smoothest games I've played on lan.
Up there with quake and et -

Exposure. The politics of the voting and organization may not be how alot would like it, but the general voting is a GREAT tool for exposure. Who doesn't like campaign plugs....We [CF_English] may not have the fair hand, but WCG WILL at least do its' homework on this version here in comparison to other version + statistics and such. That alone is GREAT for anyone. Let them know there's some sort of following here, and for the future ANYTHING is plausible, given the checklist. Enough votes will get them talking....them talking about CF on this side of the map is better than silence. -

No no no, I'm not saying it's a must. It's simply an additive they look at; Can they run online promos [they do this in a number of titles], and they've even done online qualifiers in the past on dedicated servers + tournaments for all expense paid trips to compete in the various stops. And the Qualifying stops I'm talking about were; NY, DC, Orlando, LA & caught on whether it was Chicago or Las Vegas...I can't seem to find the '10 Qualifier off hand. I'll edit when I can find for the EXACTS.
