Z8 Games Needs 2 Get Rid Of X-Trap
no offense to Z8 but i think it's time to say goodbye to X-Trap and get something more reliable like Punkbuster or something else other then X-Trap. i just went to load up my Mercenary Wars game and that too is having the same fate as Crossfire. both are unable to run do to an X-Trap error. Here in Crossfire i keep getting told by X-Trap
Is there any idea as to when X-Trap will get it's act together and fix the error with it's client that is plaguing many online FPS games that uses it as an anti-hacking tool.
Now in my MW game thanks to X-Trap i'm being told "Unable to Connect to Servers, Please Check The Website For Info."Error Code 08-0400-00000000-509 "some functions of the operating system has been corrupted. please close any programs which is affecting game client and restart system."

Punkbuster (in my experience) is less reliable and ONLY WORKS WELL WITH DEDICATED SERVERS
X-Trap is in fact one of the best anti cheats out there. Yes, people often get errors, but thats down to the users pc running someone with xtrap that it doesnt like.
X-Trap is here to stay. Deal with it or leave.
You can argue all you want... in the end I am right. -

Sums it up -
Try turning off Fraps?
There's a current program conflict with that we are trying to run.
X-Trap works perfectly fine if you have no other programs running while trying to play Cross Fire.
The best way to determine if there is a program conflict is to shut down all other programs, and then go through the list and "turn them on". When you see a conflict with a program let us know so we can inform X-Trap.
Since we're not running nearly as many programs as everyone who plays this game it can often be difficult to get the exact combination of things that causes errors. That's where we need your help.
As for the rest, we've made enough comments on the validity of X-Trap. It's here to stay, punkbuster is not an option with the way the game servers operate at this time. X-Trap has been doing a great job in the recent weeks anyways. -

Replacing GameGuard with XTrap was probably the best thing that this company has done for themselves.
You saying they do the opposite, is the equivalent of, let's say, opening the doors to hackers with wide-spread arms.
Opening the door to a flooded room? -

Tom, I will always say AWP to you.
Yes, opening the door to a flooded room, but wouldn't the water seep through the small opening on the bottom?
It's like jumping off a plane with no parachute. -

More or less like entering the cookie monster cave without a cookie gift.

GameGuard was replaced because in many Windows XP versions there was an error with some of the files it was associated with.
Also, many hackers could easily get past GameGuard. In the early days of Cross Fire, it was extremely difficult to find a room without a hacker. -

I have never seen that error before. I quit playing war rock becasue the hakrs were so bad. seemed punkbuster did nothing to stop haks and it lagged my system. HAve you ever downloaded haks? If so, then that is probabaly the reason you are getting the error. if not, submit a support ticket. -

Dear GM
everytime i used my video player befor ,i have to restar my pc inorder to play .
Please Tell Xtrap To FIx . Thx -
love it all the ppl who chewed me out saying it was FRAPS causing the error that i posted about. i haven't changed my fraps version since i got it, just ran crossfire as i haven't played in a couple weeks due to working a lot and what do u know........
I run the latest update for crossfire, shut Fraps off, long in fine, close Crossfire, turn Fraps on to check something and bam Crossfire logs in without any problems or hassles from XTrap so like i said in my original post XTRAP was causing the error not Fraps or anything else but XTRAP. Time for all those ppl that preached nothing was wrong with XTRAP to suck it up and admit they were wrong. If Fraps was the problem as some say it would effect every program, even movies being played would be effected. -

So because you are encountering an error, we should switch to one of the most easily bypassed anticheats in existence? Somehow I don't think that will happen. -
