AGREEDThats what admins are for. Qualified judgment calls without being influenced, as the users are, by using the gun they're deciding on.
But you get admins that want to use it and admins who want to ban it. When the votes are equal it makes sense to go to the public vote next.
BUT THIS SHOULDN't BE THE CASE. As an Admin of a Competitive League you don't ban guns depending on weather you like the gun or not. You ban it with a clear mind (like Dot said) on weather it's a fair gun. It's not, OK. Ban it.
However, the idea of having some guns that are more focused on being good at wallbang is negotiable. But that being said, they would need to be nurfed in other places.
Example have a 80% wallbang but the damage would be low.
Ofcourse that's out of any leagues power. It's what Z8 (Or whatever G4GearCardboardBox) chooses to do about balancing its guns in their game. But lets face it that's not going to happen, Z8 don't take suggestions from its community (factual statement, dont make me quote Saidin and Giggletron, Suggestions Board is useless).
At the time being the only thing ESL can do to make the league better is ban XM8 until it's modification. -

By the looks of it, users who question this decision there gets insulted by admins. -

Hello, I am hansa from the ESL and I know that there are a lot of people unhappy with the rules.
The discussion about the weapons started in this Threat:

And ended in a poll, because there are a lot of players who bought some weapons and should decide.
If you all think the xm8 should be banned, why have 119persons decided to allow this weapon? Everyone has had 3 votes and look at the poll! Ban ScarLight(174), ban M12(211) ban xm8(61), but allow xm8 are 119 votes. ???
We know each changes in the rules are ok for the one, and not ok for the other. I can live with it because I am playing with a M4A1.
So, don't be afraid of this. It's a game.

Because those 119 people aren't qualified to say no. Of course they won't.
They use - or abuse rather - the glitched gun. They paid for it. Of course they won't say "hey, ban this gun, I'll sell it for one third of the price I paid! I won't mind".
That is why there (should be) admins to decide these things, not left up to the users to have a poll to lean on when people who ARE qualified but not admins, speak their mind.
But you know. Whatever helps you do as little as possible. -
