Kick Vote System Revised

No, this is not another thread about removing the voting system and so on. I was looking around and thought up of a few ideas in collaboration with others that might make it a little better overall.

-Allow the kick vote bar to be seen by the accused. This feature is also in other versions, and I think its more fair than being left in the dark. You wouldn't want someone talking behind your back would you, lets say, in a job that would get you fired because of such. Should also put in host voter's name.

-Remove/Change kick vote options. By removing the unnecessary kick types, like hack, bug, idle and such. If a person is gonna kick you, regardless, they usually don't take the time to pick the appropriate one or the Hacking/Illegal Program one instead. Time could be saved simply by removing that last part and engage the kick vote. Or, at least generalizing it by simply Hack/Bug/Program - Idle/Others into one category each. God knows how many times I died trying to get to the vote-name-category. Too much time wasted.

-Remove 'penalty' from kick votes. We all know the 'no penalty' window is completely garbage. Especially for us ZP buyers. That is time and money wasted, regardless of the reason. Unlike Deserting, which is voluntary, which still keeps at least your K/D, kicking does not. When a player is kicking for hacks especially, they are expected to boot the player and followup with a report if its true. This normally ins't the case. However, I think regardless, GP and XP and K/D should be counted for such. Or at the very least, the stats are recorded for missions and badges.

-Increased Vote Limit. Practically says it all, as however when a true die hard hacker or such does enter the room and the 2 vote maximum limit (one for each round) is a bit silly. Half the time most players don't realize the hackers till much after and your sitting there unable to do anything till end of game. Its probably not much, games like GM and SnD should have it increased the most.

There's been other suggestions as well, but I think these would work the most and help tone down the problems of hacks, vote abuse and general play and efficiency.

    1. True, but that not only A) causes you to halt all actions to do so, B) doesn't tell you whom and C) when your just playing about and there's no other indication of a kick going on, what is the reason to check normally?

    2. True, but overall the specific is pointless. Such things are for Reports, not really for kicking. The CF in game community has shown how redundant specifics get you.

    3. Well, it was an example, don't play TD often enough, but I'm sure every mode could use more for this topic.
  • How many times are you going to press escape to see if they are voting to kick you? To notice you have to see a noob spamming f11 and sometimes you get kicked out of the blue without anyone accusing you of hacking before.
  • I think that admins should give 5 votekicks to each player for the whole day. If the player decide to waste the 5 kicks in a unique room, he can but not anymore for the rest of the day.
  • @Night_Sky: The issue was fixed where if they leave the kick is void.

@Kelathe: Love it. You're the forumer I will promise I will NEVER troll. Why you ask? Cause I love you :).

Sometimes I see more than 5 hackers a day.

It sounds ok but increased vote limits? It would make the situation 10 times worse and one kick for an hacker is enough if it doesn't get passed it's because people don't want it to, I saw about 7 kick votes on a hacker today and all failed.

5 kicks a day is plenty normally so yes there should be a limit or pay for each kick using your own GP.

Yea, like now when their is an explosion of hacking. If z8 set a limit they can up it or lower it when needed 7-10 IMO would be right Right now.
  • Oh Kelathe, I love your posts <3
    -Agrees with it all.

Well, if the vote system of still retaining your rewards after being kicked, then it wouldn't be so bad I think. However, things such as chams or such are pretty hard to tell at first, so many people are skeptical at voting f11 unless they have a grudge against the person. Which is why 2 a game usually isn't enough. I don't mind there being a GP fee if further votes are needed, i would feel it would be worth it in that case for me to enjoy my game.

  • No. Just no. The thing is Noobs will abuse it more. They should add in. "Rookie" Means he doesn't know enough how to play. Also "Friendly Fire" would be nice. "Spam" Also should be included. :P. Remove other and Remove Bug. Bug should be Hacking/Glitching Bug is also considered a glitch in the game.
  • only postivie KDR players are allowed to vote. that's only a thought, needs more thinking, can someone share a brain?

Sometimes I get more than 5 kicks per day. Today I played 2 games. In the first game they tried to kick me (no luck), 2nd game they kicked me on 11-10 when I had 25 kills+. When I see a hacker I can submit a report, but what can I do with dumb noobs?

How will it be abused if the things come in place? If the 'penalty' is removed and you still get your rewards whats the problem? You can just go to another room, your time isn't really wasted then. Friendly fire itself isn't enough to kick someone unless its on purpose and then it falls into the Others category just like Spam.

That would be a bit unfair to those who enjoy the game but don't necessarily have the skills to be in a positive K/D. That would mean farmers and hackers would be the ones with the most power only.

Continue to report, thats good. ^..^ However, with these new features in place the worries of being kicked aren't all that big a deal no more. I get kicked plenty of times myself, but I deal with it. However, if a single player continues to do so, that probably could be considered harassment. Dunno for sure.

Yea that is a good point.

However the kick vote spam passes only because people get that fed up with the kick box keep popping up that they just F11 (I believe), it's almost harassing everyone until they get the result they want (not that it's the right one).
