I've seen a youtube video of the inferno map, which looks great.
The Dust2 map looks much different but close enough. And aztec looks awesome.
I'm really gonna need to patch my game for those. XD I'm lacking behind.
Though CF's Dust2 versus CS's isn't all THAT different. Aesthetically it is, but the general layout of the map itself is almost the same. Saw a comparison fly by view of both maps going at the same time to do the routes and it was astonishing how similar they were.
Haha, the only thing we can probably count CF being not being able to import is securing hostages or such. -

Ya but this is de_ map (defuse) so no need of hostages.
But im sure CF would be able to handle that kind of map, named as_ in CS (Assassination Map) which the Counter-terrorist need to protect the VIP agent (and make their way to a secure spot) while the Terrorist try to kill him.
But.. if we dont see it in chinese version, i doubt we will see it here.
I think it made like 5-6 months that inferno and dust2 are playable on CF Chinese (I might be wrong on the time but I know it makes a while) so.. I assume we should see them here soon? no? -

[MOD]Bruce wrote: »I can't see hostage rescue ever coming.
And I DON'T want to see VIP mode. People aren't smart enough to handle it.
Well if I remember clearly, CF was unable to really do any sort of BOT or AI to be implemented into the game. So its not like you have much worry about the hostage thing to begin with.
Haha, but your right about VIP, they will see a GOLD star automatically beside their teammates name, and the poor bugger is already having his kick vote window come up. XD That is... if they don't all team nade the bugger first for his ACE HAK. lmao -

So.. they might not be able to handle hostages map but the VIP map would be ok for CF.. and when im talking about CF, im not talking about the community! loll
Nyway, just to say that CF should stick with search n destroy for competitive gameplay (like they do right now) and for the rest.. PUBBBBBBBBB
*Still waitinf for d2 n inferno map.. and as Bruce mention.. Aztec, that would be great also

Quake & Doom were EXTREMELY competitive years before CS even hit Alpha. CS was the first title commercially known with the 'elite' system, but it DID NOT start that way. You would choose your gun, and have that gun the ENTIRE length of the match. I remember when there were only TWO maps in Counter-Strike. And FOUR rifles, ONE Machinegun, ONE Sub Machinegun, ONE Sniper and TWO pistols; M4A1, Ak47, FAMAS, M16, M60, MP5, AWP, Desert Eagle & I forget the other pistol's name. This is 11yrs ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Before S&D...when it was simply Team Death + Hostage. -

So what was the league in question for Quake 1 and Doom if it was so EXTREMELY competitive?
Where you planting bomb and defusing it in Doom and Quake? No.
You are right on the fact that they were done before CS but they never had any competitive league and when im talking about league, im not talking about crap sh!t online called Mplayer.net (same kind of Battlenet)
And yes, I also remember the time you had only 2 maps, cs_estate and cs_militia. Then came cs_siege and the first de_ map, de_dust.
*Btw, the ak47 came lonnnng time after. -
THIS. Deathmatch. Quakecon, the roots of competitive playing, was Doom and Quake DEATHMATCHING. RESPAWN. Not some stupid camping around corners of the map. Not some stupid spectator waiting. Not some stupid running around the map searching for the ennemy. Those so "competitive" people are just posers. Deathmatch is what made gaming competitive. This "elite" and "snd" is just a mere "who can wait longer in spectator mode" show off. Lame.BobbyBlackk wrote: »Quake & Doom were EXTREMELY competitive years before CS even hit Alpha. You assume that SND/Elite mode are "stupid running around the map searching for the enemy."
In team death match, it's less strategy, more aim. I admit.
But in search, you have strategies, one chance, precise aiming and more importantly, teamwork. -
I've played Quake Live a couple of times, and yes, TDM does require teamwork.[MOD]Bruce wrote: »There is tons of teamwork in TDM. Map control is everything and in Quake where you have to time the weapons and powerups its multiplied.
But in a game like Cross Fire, TDM and SND aren't equivalent in my opinion.
This is more or less a thesis with arguments, and there is no right answer. So I'll just leave it at that. :P -

SND/Elite = You plan on short terms. Your ennemy WILL run out of men. If you fail once, you do fail. But you can just toss a nade, and by sheer luck, you will take out 3 ennemies, and just win the round. In Deathmatch, you have to calculate your strategy on the LONG run. Holding positions, giving yourself advantages not only against 3 ennemies, but against a LEGION.
Team death match has MORE strategy. And unlike SnD/Elite, you don't have time to scratch your ass while camping and thinking about your strategy. You need to think quick. Position quick. Or you WILL be mowed down.
One chance. This is one of the worst parts. You get the ennemy, and it's over. Short term strategy. Also, it shall be called waiting mode. 40 minutes of gameplay, 20 of wich are spectator mode. GG. Precise aiming award goes to TDM. In SND you can just camp. You have 8 ennemies max to take out. In TDM, you can make infinite kill streaks in ONE life (in theory). You need to aim better. You need to aim faster. You need not to miss. You can't just run away and camp like most of SnD posers do. -
E-Sport started with Quake and Doom. Quake-Con. 1996. First ever competitive gaming. Feel free to kill yourself now.So what was the league in question for Quake 1 and Doom if it was so EXTREMELY competitive?

You plan on long term. I plan on short terms.
You do have a point, while you "camp" and "think" about strategy, but that's the point.
Throwing a nade "randomly" does not get you three kills. The chances of that are extremely rare.
You also hold positions in search, you plan out sites, and counter rush, camp, rush, or etc.
I could say the same thing about search about aiming better, aiming faster. You base your statements on pubs and majority of the community of how they play. -

its not because you dont like SnD, that people are posers, ok?
I mean, you can play your sh!t pub style player while fragging bunch of noobs in TDM but real team are on SnD, WHATEVER THE GAME YOU PLAY, face IT!
(This is probably why all leagues use SnD!)
Go make ultrakill third time in a row now. -
You ARE posers, since you consider yourself competitive, but don't even realise where does competition comes from. What I'm saying is, that you, so "competitive" SnD players, have no idea about how old deathmatch competitiveness is. Go win some QuakeCon, than comeback talking. Until than, shut your trap.its not because you dont like SnD, that people are posers, ok?

Edit: Exclude > Agreed. Sorry to get my nerves on this all, but I'm infinitely tired of SnD kids claiming to be the "ub3r Pr0 w0rld b3st pwnarzz" while they are not worth a cent in classic spirit of gaming, deathmatching. I can't not agree that SnD has beautiful competitive scene, like every culture has it's own pros and cons. But I refuse to confirm that people claiming SnD to be the only competitive mode are actually true competitive players. Hope you understand why I say what I say. -

Im not gonna shut it for a moron that is OUT of the thread SUBJECT.
As stated in previous post; WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SEARCH AND DESTROY, WHAT IS THE FIRST GAME THAT WAS RELEASED FOR SEARCH AND DESTROY.
CANT YOU READ?
Thanks Caplock. -
TD is competitive
SnD is competitive
lots of them are competitive in their own way and require different styles of play. neither are 'better'. Even Escape mode and GM could count for competitive.
Escape mode is based on ping.
So there's an argument that it isn't. -
So you want it to play "stay on topic". K. First of all, the topic is Elite Mode, and not SnD. You Fail. Second of all, it's CAPSLOCK. Get your keyboard straight. Third, you shout it to morons? So you basically shout at yourself? Dood, GG, you probably have some mental disorder or something? IDK, call a clinic?Im not gonna shut it for a moron that is OUT of the thread SUBJECT.

How is it based on ping? I can do well in CF Chinas servers with 250ping and still get near top, and just the same with my 17 ping here. There's more to it than just that. -

No, the higher your ping / the more you spike the easier it is to escape. -

Haha then how is it I can take them out just as easy? This game version has more laggers, yet they still drop from my shots overall. Because in that point, any game mode could be involved with ping. One shot tanked could end any sniper in any game mode and change the balance and so fourth. -

By ping spiking I'm referring to spikes of over 1.5k.
And ping is a detriment in other modes because your goal is not just to tank shots. It's to kill people as well.
Which you can't with 1.5k spikes. It's a bad thing. In a mode based on running to a spot, major spiking ping is an advantage. -

Are you 10 years old?
Doing some comments on a typo? Are you gonna tell me a joke on my mom also?
Seriously, you just dont get the point at all because you didnt take time to read.
My fault? No.
Your mad? Yes.
Why? Your running out of arguments that has nothing to do with what we were talking.
Shooting out to moron? If you consider yourself a moron, thats ok, I didnt say that. I just want to make sure that you are able to read, as a human race.
Now, the fact is, SnD and TDM are both competitive, we ALL know that (are you trying to proove something?) You might not like SnD but thats not the point.
We were asking what is the FIRST competitive Search And Destroy Game?
I dont remember seeing Quake and Doom with SnD, right?
We were talking of Counter-Strike, which was the first one (I think it is, if not, correct me.) because of the video posted on the first or second page.
Can we just speak now? -

Personally, I find I make escapes easier with my low ping just rushing than when I lagged on the foreign servers. But regardless of ping being an issue, as theres tons of issues with the game, taking a step back from actual player involvement the mode can inherit competitive aspects to it.
