It's a badge. Badges are earned by getting a certain amount of kills with weapons. They were recently added in Crossfire. It's a sort of achievement system; you get rewards.

GP, muzzles flashes, and temporary weapons. Pretty much all of them last 7 days. You can check the Crossfire Guide section if you want a more extensive list on the badges and what you can get as rewards.
