MyAfterlife's Guide to the Gatling Gun

I know there are already a couple guides on this very unique weapon already but I felt compelled to make my own contribution, so let's begin.

First of all I'd like to start with firing positions, because i can't tell you how many people I've seen lose a match because they see a dropped Gatling gun, then pick it up assuming they know how to use it right and die. Even after they die, they do the same thing...Interesting.

The best, most effective firing stance fore ANY machine gun is to SAD (Stop And Drop) where you wish to set up a secure firing position. The advantages to this is the doubled accuracy achieved from crouching, and to be frank your not gonna be getting places if you were moving anyways. You can safely burst 3-5 shots before the recoil really sets in, which will almost always get you a kill if all rounds make hit because of the GG's amazing power. At longer ranges, however, it is best to one shot. If your the kinda person who likes a little hint, because your not gonna be moving, you can revolve your cannon by clicking the mouse every 1/2 to 1 second, which will dramatically reduce the pre-fire time.

If you gotta get somewhere, but don't wanna switch to that secondary (show-off reasons?) You do not wanna be firing while standing unless at approximatively 15-20 feet away, because of the massive recoil, which begins to spray in about 1 second after firing. No, the best way to do it is to be a little more careful and listen for footsteps. If this is the case, SAD and begin to revolve your cannon if you can. Like i said before, firing while standing isn't smart unless your trying to get somewhere. If you are only make a support fire position, always crouch.

If you play mutation mode, chances are your not going to be walking around a lot, so you are gonna want to find a nice camping spot and SAD. This mode is really the ONLY time I recommend to walk and fire, and not crouch as this will cause you to move slower then your pet turtle. If you are caught with having to move positions while being chased, walk backward while firing at them dang mutants until you find a nice, warm camping position, but I'd just like to say that if you are force to reload, whip out your knife weapon and run like H---, because the reload time combined with the spinning time is about 4 seconds, plenty of time for those meanie greenies to catch up and mutate you :)

Now that you know the basic firing positions and SAD, we can move on the best way to use this monster in certain game modes thats its good in.

In TDM, its quite simply the same, only that while holding your cannon, your practically the #1 target of the enemy noobs trying to get hold of your gun. Basically this is where your gonna be strategically camping more then other game modes, which pretty much just means you will find an area, SAD, get a few kills then move on looking for another spot.
If you want a tip, hand over your cannon to a team mate, then switch to a bag with a sniper rifle. If you can spare a kill point, nade' yourself then track your teammate till he dies (so basically 10 seconds) and just watch that gun. snipe anyone that tries to swap weapons during the 20 seconds or so that its there. this should get you about 3-5 kills, or maybe much more depending on the amount of noobs on the other team.

Ghost mode is a very good mode for this weapon. What you wanna do is find a ghost traffic area during the first couple rounds of the game. Then, SAD there waiting for ghosts to come along for a few easy kills. If your a bit more pro at this mode you can even walk around searching for ghosts, as this weapon is great for searching where you think the ghosts are.

Escape mode is probably the best mode besides MM that this weapon is perfect for. As the defenders, find a good spot to strategically camp (yes you will wanna move around or they will find you) and snipe at the people shooting at the wall. As the Attackers, you will be able to take down a gate for your team in less then 30 seconds by yourself. However, if you plan on being a runner, it is HIGHLY recommended you swap with a lighter weapon, as your cannon won't do much good. It is still great you want to make a supporting fire position for your team however.

Mutation Mode...Need i even type this part? I won't say much but your pretty much just going to camp around with a team. Of course, this is the best weapon (in my and a ton of other peoples opinions) for MM, and you won't have much problems at all if you have a good team around you for help.

Tell me what you think, but keep in mind that this is my first ever guide. I'd really appreciate that you keep it nice and no flaming though :)

One more thing, once again I'm not trying to improve anyone else's guide about this gun, this is just my personal contribution to this epic cannon, so please keep that in mind you you are planning to comment. :)
