In regards to the current speed hack
Hello CF Community.
As you all know we're constantly taking a stance against hackers, whether it's tracking the hacks themselves and sending them to the appropriate people to have blocked. Or issuing the many types of bans we have within our system to cut the hacker from our game.
This announcement is in regards to the current speed hack that people have seen in the game. The speed hack involves a bypass to xtrap which can permanently damage your game (and perhaps your computer). At the very least it makes it difficult to run the game multiple times after use.
This bypass hack may also contain a keylogger designed to rip personal information from your computer and transfer it to other hackers. This puts you, your computer and anyone else who uses it (including your family ie parents) at risk.
This is above and beyond the fact that 'using' the speed hack will be met with a higher priority, from us. When you use a speed hack or other obvious hack, everyone in the game knows your hacking and someone will report you. We are currently prioritizing this hack (and the one-shot vip hack) as top priorities for banning and dealing with.
So please as always, don't use hacking programs with Cross Fire. And know that we are aware of the current situation and are taking priorities to handle some of these hacks and dealing with the obvious hackers who use them.
And as always with popular waves of public hacks, be warned that IP's can get banned (as usual). And that just because YOU don't hack doesn't mean your little brother or sister hasn't tried a hack out and subsequently got your account or computer or ip banned from our system. We take no responsibility for those kinds of actions and it is the fault of the user if a situation like that occurs.
To end on a more lighter note, an entire wave of hacks was disabled due to the changes that were made to the client in the last patch. So as always, there are things happening and hope for the future!

Wouldn't it be easier to insert something that blocks the user from playing the game? Not by IP, but by computer. Take reference to the game puzzle pirates. If you get suspended/banned, your computer becomes tainted making you not allowed to register to the game, and you can not play the game aswell.[GM]Saidin wrote: »We can separate them to each of them or both. -

They are still banned by IP. Completely useless because many people know how to get around it. They need to ban by COMPUTERS meaning that a computer will not be allowed to play CF again, and that person has to get a new computer. No, Give moderators banning powers in game.
Example;
They see a speed hacker. - Leave the game, right click on his IGN "Bann"
With other cheats > "Chams, wall hack" the replay will have to be uploaded! -

I like this idea, Ive seen it in another games where you get perm banned forever even if you use another IP it blocks you. -

I completely agree with this. And as far as I know, Saidin agrees aswell. -

I love you Saiden. Nobody is patient these days.

Mac Address banning is possible.NoWayOut69 wrote: »Computer Banning?...
MAC Address is saved by your ISP(Internet Service Provider) - Z8Games cannot bann you using your mac address because your ISP will not release this information!
Banning IP?
Only other way is IP Bann and there is program i found, CyberGhost - My alt was posting ealier.
This will give you another ip(Unbans Vent, TeamSpeak, CrossFire)
Now shut up!
IP banning is stupid. You can easily get around it.
EDIT: Z8Games could insert a .dat file into our folders that would prevent hackers from playing the game if you are caught. -
Can't be done.
Actually it can be done quite easily. Look around on your home router's configuration and you'll see MAC filtering options. Enterprise class routers can do this as well.NoWayOut69 wrote: »Computer Banning?...

Completely false. Every packet that leaves your computer has your MAC address embedded in it. Try opening a command prompt then ping another computer. Now type: arp -a
It will return a list of the ARP cache including IP address and MAC address. -

Yes, but when you connect to Z8Games servers. You're ip address is givin! Not your mac! -
Hardware bans have a lot of hurdles to go through. A lot of legalities and technical problems, plus they have to be coded at the developer level, not the publisher level. Any plan to take better care of the legit gamers is a good one. In this case we are using what tools we have available in the best possible way.
If future tools come up that improve this process then we will also use them to.
We are not "skipping" past any potential way to rid the game of hackers. That's not the goal. However we can't just ignore our current methods on the hopes that the system will change at some unforseen future. Because then nothing would happen.
This thread serves as a warning to those who thought to be funny and try that particular hack once. It is a warning to them that a) they might have screwed their computer/game b) they might have been keylogged in the process and c) we're stepping up our priorities to rid the game of these obvious hacks and hackers. -
Yes, I understand that it would take time. But in the end, it will be crucial to the development of the game. Switching over to hardware bans, making new ToS's, and spending time will increase customer satisfaction, making the game better, and attract more people.Hardware bans have a lot of hurdles to go through. Off-topic but I heard that MAC Address bans are quite easy. -
ip bans work
oh the game is based off of a server right? and with a server comes something called IP tables
an iptable is simply a list of ip adresses that are not to be allowed so the server cannot except packets from it. in order to change this without having a dynamic ip is to use a proxy and guess what proxys are slow and will make you lag so bad that you cannot play -
