For heavy gaming make the step up to a mechanical keyboard with linear switches. The keyboard you choose uses the cheap rubber domes. For the switchs make sure the keyboard has Cherry MX Black or Cherry MX Red switches. Any other Cherry MX (COLOR) besides those have a tactile feel and are great for typing, but not gaming.
Mouse is mainly preference, but you are going to want to avoid certain ones depending on what games you play. Alot of the high dpi mouses will have negative accel issues since CF doesn't seem to use raw input.
As for headset, there aren't very many great choices for pure headsets. Avoid headsets that claim to be digital 7.1. They take the stereo signal and do a bunch of processing on it. Just get a good pair of stereo headphones. The AD700's are known to have one of the best soundstages in gaming. You can pick a pair up for 80 bucks on amazon.
The headset I choose is also very good. It is a 32ohm version of the dt770s. It has a modified enclosure, a great mic, and a stereo usb soundcard. -
Alright mate...
Mousewise you can't really go wrong with any of the high end Logitech or Razer stuff. Logitech used to be a really good brand when they were competing with Microsoft for market share. To be honest with you most of their gear is pretty cheap and nasty now. All the Gseries keyboards with the displays are awful, steer clear guys! Razer has a really nice selection of mice though, if you can afford it go for the wireless mamba.
If it's a keyboard you're after go straight for a mechanical one. Razer have got a new one coming out next month http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.211651300/categoryId.35156900 . There's also a cheaper option if you're a poorper
. If you don't like that there are plenty of other non-gaming mechanical ones. Make sure you buy one with nice light key switches though.
If you're only using a headset for gaming don't bother getting anything expensive. Just buy something cheap. If you're anything like me you'll only sit on the dam thing and break it anyway!!!
If you're looking for a mouse mat the Razer Megasoma is really nice. It's stupidly expensive for a mat though! I have to admit that it is the best mouse mat you can buy, but it's totally not worth the money. Steelseries make a nice aluminium mouse mat that's also uber expensive. I'd advise against buying this as it wears down the Teflon feet on top end mice STUPIDLY FAST! -
That is a very good point about the MX Cherry Blue Switches. I personally though the same thing, but as we speak thousands of geeks are argueing about this on other forums. Some gamers seem to love these switches, others think they're crap. Either way it's an odd choice.
I'm of the thinking that Razer are the experts and it'll surely be fine, but maybe I'm too trusting

Don't get me wrong, blues feel amazing at typing. I specifically go to a CLC on campus that has keyboards with blues. When it comes to gaming the actuation point is all that matters. It feels weird to me that the release point isn't as far down as the point where the key registers.
Each their own I guess -

The 6gv2 is basically the steelseries 7g without usb&audio passthrough. 100$ is still alot for a keyboard, but it's the cheapest non used keyboard with mx black switchs you can get in the US without buying. -
From my own experience,
Logitech MX518 / Used Intellimouse 3.0 once, it felt nice too.
I have only used Razer Tarantula, so I say Tarantula for me.
As for headset, So far used Plantronics 355 & 655, Creative fatal1ty HS800 and Sennheiser PC350, and I say Sennheiser beats the **** out of the other two.. -

My teammate has the PC350 and he doesn't like it as much as his HD555's. -

HD555's are better but it is not a 'headset', it is a 'headphone', and is meant for listening to music, audio reproduction etc, and yes I have also seen many people saying PC350 lacks bass, but for me, 350's are probably the best headset I have used. -
I've found a bit of information on the Cherry Blue Switches that the new Razer Blackwidow is going to use. This information was written by Razer so please take it with a pinch of salt

2. What key switch is used in the Razer BlackWidow? To dispel all confusion once and for all – we use the Cherry Blues – and in our design process, we’ve got a pretty strict guideline on sorting of each switch, so it’s not just the Cherry Blues but those with a certain characteristic/tolerance guideline. So…they’re cherry-picked. I can’t go into the tolerance/sorting guidelines but I can say that it provides for a different experience as opposed to a normal Cherry Blue switch keyboard.
3. OMG/WTH/etc WHY THE BLUES INSTEAD OF THE [Insert your favorite color switch here] First up, they all cost almost the same – blues, blacks, reds, etc and we had tested all of the switches with multiple designs. So we picked the Blues intentionally from the get go. We went through a design cycle with each of the different switches and our ergo team together with our pool of pro gamers went through extensive validation of the Blues – we came up with 2 real conclusions, 1. It’s a question of preference of each user primarily and 2. There’s a lot of marketing bullcrap and FUD out there about which color is better etc etc.
We finally picked the Blues over the others like the blacks after the testing/validation that we did over the past couple of years– the data was pretty clear to us. The biggest downside to the Blues was the sound – but the other features were huge winners – and the data we collated from hundreds of pro/amateur gamers indicated that the tactile and clicky Blues provided a significant advantage to the gamers as opposed to those that used other switches (though we wouldn’t recommend LAN centers to kit up on the Razer BlackWidows, it would drive everyone crazy). A few people here also brought up the release point of the blue switches being higher than the actuation point by a fraction of a millimeter requiring you to release it fully to ensure a re-actuation. This was also one of the issues that we had tested extensively internally with our test robots as well as with our pro-gamers and this was addressed as part of our design. The Blues do provide a better switch mechanism for gaming (although it depends on your preference at the end of the day too). Don’t take our word for it, give the Razer BlackWidow a go – you may just realize that you prefer the Blues at the end of the day. -

if you add a microphone to anything it becomes a headset -

I don't think it would really bother me in an FPS game, but I play alot of SC2 that's why I went with the blacks. -
I have chosen a mouse / headset / mousepad, I'm wondering if they are worth the price.
http://www.maxfps.se/product_view.aspx?productid=2539 Steelseries Siberia v2 Headset. Price: 689 SEK ($98.64 US)
http://www.maxfps.se/product_view.aspx?productid=3092 ZOWIE EC2 Mouse. Price: 589 SEK ($84.32 US)
http://www.maxfps.se/product_view.aspx?productid=2448 ZOWIE P-RF Mousepad. Price 199 SEK ($28.49 US)
Any help is appreciated if these are worth it - and if there could possibly be a better option for around the same price.
PS: How important is a good keyboard? I have an old COMPAQ one, but I've had no problems with it. -
only thing I am unsure about on your list would be the mouse pad. A Qpad CT would be better imo because they give you a set of mouse skates with it, and it's afew cm bigger.I have chosen a mouse / headset / mousepad, I'm wondering if they are worth the price.

As for keyboard its fine. As long as your not having problems with it, you should be fine. I just got tired of having to buy a 10-15 dollar keyboard every 3 months. So i bought a mechanical keyboard. -

Thanks. I found a list of Qpad CT mouspads, but there is quite a few, with different prices so I'm wondering if there is much difference (probably not)?

Okay, I'm not sure i need to upgrade, i think now im gona just get a pair of skullcandys and use the keyboard and mouse that comes with the new computer I'm getting soon. There some iBUYPOWER stuff, but WE
I was thinking about getting that mouse, and adjusting the DP to a kinda low rate, and make it kinda heavy (You can add and subtract wait with a weight cartrige it comes with), I'm a low sense gamer. Now headset, I really like it, and this one has many great review, as well as the fact I love logitech.
