the real meaning of "pro"
to me and a number of "elder" cf players, how pro you are is not measured by the number of kills you have but the ammount of skill you used to get them. for example:
now: poeple rapidly strafe to take advantage of hitboxes.
they spray no matter what the weapon and claim it takes "gun control" even though they choose guns with low recoil on purpose.
they rush towards you while spraying to try to compensate for bullet spread as they fire.
some camp a specific area without a sniper for whole rounds at a time.
Glitchers. to wrap it all up, when they find it difficult to beat someone they often call "hacker", "lagger", or "lucky".
spam slashing is now hailed as a skill than relying on "luck of the draw" to hit someone
1 1/2 years ago:
poeple rarely sprayed and often took their time aiming or walked with they're aim pre-hieghtened for headshots at any moment.
they were honest with their hacking accusations, glitches were rarely noticed let alone used and when they were noticed many poeple reported them.
camping was rare and was often only done for strategic reasons and for sniping.
intentional teamwork but not in conditions that ment making one team overpowered.
spam slashing was looked down upon as a last resort for those who can't use timing properly.
most players are treated as equals dispite they're lackings in specific skills although those lackings are noted and helped to be made better.
i realise that this is only the comparison for one of the older generations of cf players, what i want to know is what YOUR description of pro is so i can really see just how much cf changed. i'm not hear to bring anyone down about something they do. this is just for research. before posting compare your idea of the meaning of "pro" to the meaning that it had in the 1 1/2 years ago version.

Times change.
The introduction of "low recoil guns" (read: Kriss, m12, etc) have allowed those without "pro" skills to get kills easier.
The shovels allows those who can't time knife slashes properly to simply outrange them.
My definition of pro is a player who is as good in game as out of game. Maturity means more than raw skill. -

My definition of pro is this guy, it seems like he's been on forums all day yet when I log into crossfire, I always see him on the clan thing... Plus he has the purple elite badge.
Legendary player. -
This, and also, TEAMWORK. You can get a group of "pro" labeled players, to play against a group of "noob" labeled players, and as long as the "noob" group works as a cohesive unit, they can/will put up a good fight against the other team.[MOD]Bruce wrote: »Times change.

You can't be pro until you have:
-PRO in your name somewhere. (It helps, it truly does! ^..^)
-All Armour/Helmet and those other ZP bonus goodies! (Thier fault for not using it themselves eh?)
-Use shovel in knife or GM matches. (Can't beat em? Get more range!)
-Use only powerful low recoil, tight spread guns so you mow down enemies without trying!
-and finally, RQ everytime you die first. XD
/sarcasm. -
Pro... who cares?
My idea of a game is just playing and having fun.
You are better than me in this game. Fine, some challenge for me.
Who cares you can beat me 1vs1? Or in clan match?
So many people take this game so seriously. Maybe because of child competition to be the better one ;-)
Anyway, back to the subject. For me, a "pro" in this game, is the one taking advantage of any aspect of this game: sounds, maps, movement, etc...
But I will not consider as a pro one person. This game is more a team game (clan match). Then you need strat and coordination to play, which make it even more difficult. Then my conclusion, there a no pros, only pro team. (personal conclusion, nobody need to agree) -
well, i'm not rly into the fact that pro players are necessarily those who get paid 2 play. just cuz some ppl can be / are way better but they aren't into the business aspect of the game.
pro players are the ones that can handle any situation with maximum of efficiency; like strafe when needed, spray when needed (to get the max. amount of kills possible in a situation), aim precisely etc. at the end of the round the winner is the last guy standing
P.S.: also u don't have to be high skilled to play on publics, so a good / even great score there doesn't make u a pro in any way. cws iz teh bizz ! xd -
[Technically] yes, If someone pays you to win, or you play and win $$ yeah that's what my definition of "pro gamer" is.[MOD]Bruce wrote: »I [technically] get paid to play.
Does this [technically] make me a pro?Skill left when the BRs came in to the game. Note the Kriss, m12, ect.
What does those guns have to do with BRs ;o
