making use of the mellee weapon in sniper only maps
whats your opinion on it?
mine: you have a highpowered gun that will kill in one hit at any range, they have a mellee weapon with limited range. You do the math

knifing = free kill
altho, if sum1 is slashing, it annoys me
end of the match i had 42 kills most mellee
some noscopes
knifing is only a free kill if you are a weeturd that is not able to think strategically

I think the knife is in case u ran out of ammo. Yes, but that is part of the fun. You gotta learn to anticipate knifers. So I say keep it like it is.
It is funny to knife a knifer, and then get kicked for knifing. -
Melee weapons should be removed from sniping only matches, and also pistol only matches. Otherwise, if they are in it they're allowed as far as I'm concerned. Whether it's fair or not doesn't matter if you can use it. Same theory works for the SCAR Light and other OP'd or unfair abilities.;)

Knifing is looked down upon because that kills "Snipers-only" matches.
@People who used the range argument: you have a limited range of vision when you're scoped where a knifer can be right in front of you, but a little to the left/right and you won't be able to see them. Also when they're in your face, it's hard to kill because no-scope's accuracy is worse than a broken gun. Quickscope isn't available to everyone because of FPS lag.
With that said, I still knife anyway because I think it's fun to watch kids rage. -
I feel Melee weapons should be allowed in sniper matches.
1) Sniper rifles are heavy, greatly slowing your character. By allowing melee weapons, you allow a player to enhance his mobility by increasing his vulnerability and decreasing his ranged capability. Thus, no imbalance occurs.
2) These can be used tactically against novices (who can't aim while you rush at them) and players who do not see you because they are scoping. Stealthwalk helps.
3) Following many open-source game development projects, I've learned a few things about this. When a gametype loses its depth, it loses its ability to maintain players' interest.
To rectify this kicking issue, I suggest removing the "Sniper only" tag from the gametype. Make it CLEAR that melee weapons are allowed. Say "Snipers Rifles and Melee Weapons only", instead of "Snipers only".
Though, I think it would be nice to allow the host to choose. If the host doesn't want melee weapons, perhaps a picture of a Knife with an "X" through it could exist next to the Crosshair icon in the roomlist. -
As a sniper, I think that it is essential to have the melee weapon for the quickswitch, but only for switching. You could disable the use of knife, but you can always draw it to move faster, quickswitch, etc. That way there could be no knifing in sniper matches. Of course, Z8 could make a new mode like that, while keeping the one with the use of knife.
