New Comp Question
I'm going to be getting a Mac (I know a mac... Ew...) for my graphic design classes and I was first of wondering if crossfire can be played on a Mac, and if it can what would be my expected frame rate with a Mini-Mac (http://www.apple.com/macmini/specs.html) that has a GeForce 320m and 2gbs of Ram.
(not really a techy, I know enough to fix my comp when something messes up but blind beyond that.)

Ewwww... It should be OK for old fart like CF. However you can get the same non-MAC things for half the price I guess. MAC is so overpriced. And remember you can put Windows on that thing since they use Intel CPUs. And the video card is... ew. Don't like it!

why?
pc is not alowed in your class?
mac is over priced and over rated.
Run some editing programs on the two, Mac out performs PC in that area ONLY. lol
You know the movie "300"? Almost all the CG for that movie was done on a Mac.
(and paying for it with a grant) -
It's true, dude! You can get way better PC set for the $$$ you are going to waste on that MAC thing. And as I said - MAC now uses "regular" PC parts! Check for yourself - CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo, video is "regular" NVIDIA GeForce 320M(shared memory - means it eats your RAM), etc. It's just overpriced PC.

I know, the comps at my school have three operating systems and you can use any one of them, but there's a noticeable difference in the performance of editing programs used to graphic design, since the programs were made for macs. -
Hehe, theres no fixing macs yourself :P I'm assuming he'll be running Photoshop. I have an old Intel 2006 Macbook and it chugs running CS5. Although with the 320M you'll see a performance boost in those programs.
You might want to actually look for a better CPU as most graphic programs are pretty CPU intensive. If price a problem, go PC you can spend about $600 for a really decent CPU.
This is coming from someone who has an i7 imac, I'm just really use to Final Cut Pro.
Crossfire isn't very demanding, even if you get a MacMini it'll run pretty well. Just have to use Bootcamp or VMware. -

Thanks for actual intuitive input, someone I would expect from a GM -
