Linux and CrossFire?
I was thinking about building a new desktop. For the demand to have a clearer Audio Production as well as more memory for GIMP, video editing, etc(anything that includes the creation of multi-media). As I research my OS. At first the obvious choice was Windows 7. When I look up the prices for this OS, I find that the price for it is around $290-$300. I was like...WDF? That much for a 'not so great,' operating system(Windows XP is my OS right now. I find that Linux based OS's are a lot better, no trolloing on my opinion)?
So my choice for an OS now would have to be Ubuntu...or Linux Mint. I chose Linux Mint. My question here is that..
Does anyone know if it is possible to play CrossFire on Linux(seeing that CF, is my main focus on gaming right now)? Before saying "NO...." I do know that there is a program called Wine that can run some Windows Games on Linux. As well as PlayOnLinux, which turns Wine from command-line to a more user friendly UI. I'm not looking for Cedega or any commercial crap.
Any info. would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!
EDIT:
Google and YouTube do not provide any info on this

Yeah, Xtrap makes calls to the windows kernel, so linux isn't going to work. Dual booting is pretty easy if you have windows installed first. Just buy a copy of XP and install that, then if you run a linux installer it will allow you to resize your main partition and install linux to that. After that you will have a choice of operating systems when you power up your computer.
