FPS Problems

i currently have a computer with ram of 1gb and a geforce fx200 graphic card i believe what kind of graphic card would help bring FPS from 25-40 to 60+? i only have fps problems and id like to know if i need a new graphic card because this one is pretty old i think. Or is it the amount of ram the computer has .
I dont want to have to buy a new computer if i dont have to or if it wont fix the problem.
Thx to anyone who may help

  • My computer has 1GB and a simple 50 euro graphics card and I get over 100 on 8v8s.
    Maybe your computer is overheating?
  • You meet the requirements right? http://crossfire.z8games.com/support_start_game_sys_req.aspx

If you do. Maybe your computer is overheating.

If not. Does your computer have too many programs running?

what is your processor? cause that plays a big part in fps
  • I have nvidia geforce fx 200 i think and is that good enough im not to educated on this matter... and usually i only run ventrillo with CF so i don't think it should be much of problem. it doesnt overheat i dont think cause even when i just start thats usually when its worst (needs a warm up or something).
  • what are all the FPS problems mainly traced too? and ill check those systems out
  • The problem might be your proccesor speed, do this system test online program. (Vista, 7, XP)(Mac) You will need to run/install a firefox, internet-e,

requirements this online test will not damage or remove any data from your system.

I've 2GB and 7600GT gpu and I've 25-40fps, sometimes 15 lol. Tell me your secret.

    Not really.
  • I have 1GB Ram, Geforce 6200 256 MB vid card. Get something near 30 in a 8v8. What's your operating system?

I nearly meet the "Recommended Requirements", cept the graphics card. :P
  • I have 1GB of ram and a GeForce 6150 LE video card and I get somewhere between 50-80 in 8v8s.
  • It sounds like its your processor. CF is a VERY cpu dependant game. My old pc had 1gb of ram and an ATI X300 Which is older than yours and I got 30-40fps in 8v8's when chat was spammed and smokes were goin off. I'd get your CPU looked at before buying a GPU or more RAM.

Here this is my guide for FPS. Read it all, and actually READ it.

It isnt a cpu issue. My desktop's cpu is a pentium 4 3.2ghz and my laptop is a pentium D 2.0ghz and I've the same ping while playing.

This game is based more on processor and RAM than graphics card i own a Nvidia Geforce gtx 250 (or sumtin like that) and i go down from 50-300 (300-400) from looking down a wall but my processor isnt that good

nope, for some reason the CPU affects CF's FPS a lot
  • this is my sh1tty CPU info's, i get roughly 40 fps in a 8v8 bw S&D

    CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06GHz
    CPU Speed: 3.07GHz
    RAM: 1021.4 MB
Video Card: GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB Memory
    Monitor: 17" Samsung
Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio
CrossFire FPS Rate: 40 FPS (8v8 pubs)

you should think about replacing your video card cause the one you got is way too old.

lol at my 3 straight posts
  • Thank you i think i will just get a new computer because this one is out of date and hopfully all my problems will be solved... and thx i thought it was outdated
  • My specs:

    CPU: Intel(R) Core I-7 930
    CPU Speed: OC'd 3.23
    RAM: 8 GB DDR3 Kingston
    Video Card: Nvida GTX 285
Monitor: Alienware OptX AW2210 21.5" LCD Gaming Monitor
Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio
CrossFire FPS Rate: 40-150 (Not sure I don't typically watch this because I dont have problems with it)

Now, let's take everything into account. Crossfire uses an old engine (Lithtech Jupiter EX). That being said you could have a high performance gaming rig and CrossFire is limited on FPS because it's engine can only do so much. One thing you have to take into account is that if there is alot of gunfire, grenades, and people on your screen. The engine is going to lag itself and cause your fps to drop. No matter what system you have, it can only display what it is given to display.
You could most likely buy an E-Machines computer from Wal-Mart that could play this game at 40 fps.
As a matter of fact I built my sons personal pc using an E-Machine. I spent $50 upgrading his processor from an Intel Celeron E1200 (1.6ghz Dual) to an Intel Celeron E1500 (2.2ghz Dual, OC'd to 2.74) . Another $50 on a BFG 450W PSU. I already had a Nvidia GeForce 9800GT GPU laying around so I slapped that in there. And waalaaa a poor man's little gaming rig. He gets anywhere from 40-110 fps. It doesn't take a supercomputer to play this game.
Always note that your fps is limited to the game's engine that you are playing. Don't listen to the lies from people who tell you they never drop below 150 fps on this game because I am here to tell you that they do. Because CrossFire's engine itself gets overloaded and it itself drops the frame rate.
  • Yes but mine ranges anywhere from 1-50 and 50 being almost alone on the map and no smoke/nades. so im thinking that i need an upgrade. i just wana run at around 60 fps for normal or over. im tierd of walking into smoke and having 12.5 fps in 3v3 scrims. Thanks for ur help all u!
  • Does anyone know what it might take for a system to run at 60-110 fps? (i want over 60 cause then you cant knowtice difference) Like the recommended Video card and stuff like that? im looking into a new computer and want to be sure i get the right one that will last me a while. im sure it wont take a super one to run CF but id like to take future updates into consideration thx.

Since it doesn't have a dedicated graphic card it wouldn't be good for games.
I can recommend this build (I built it for a friend of mine and he runs 80-140 in 8v8s).

    AMD PHENOM II X2 550 3,1Ghz AM3
    ASUS M4A79XTD EVO CF AM3
    DDR3 Corsair 4GB Kit 1333Mhz
    SAMSUNG 750GB SATAII NCQ 32MB
    ASUS ATI HD5750 1GB PCI-E
    SAMSUNG DVD 16X SATA Black
    Ace Battle 4 ATX 500W

It cost around $700 and then you need to but a screen and OS separately.
Also don't let your ne pc become like this:

It has dedicated memory but the card itself is onboard. (as you can clearly se here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Harumphy.dg965.heatsink.jpg) It leads to less noise, lower power consumption and lower power :)
  • Well how well do you think that computer will run CF i just need one thats better than 60 or so FPS and with my hunk of crap i get like 10-30 on average
