I don't think it does jack poo if u ask me. But thats my opinion.

Type MSCONFIG in the search area under start menu, check selective startup. Under Startup check 'hide Microsoft programs' and disable remaining apps. Under services uncheck all un-vital programs, click apply. Close & restart puter.

Rough directions, for better directions google 'optimise MSCONFIG'

Don't dink around with these settings if you have no clue what u r doing...

Your ping spikes are most likely caused by router/modem problems or your ISP.

well since it temporarily closes down some processes, i didnt exactly check which ones it shuts down, but there is a high possibility of one of these processes to use the internet which will definitely help stabilize ping, but just a little if any

Try closing all processes with GameBooster. If the ping stabilises, it will mean a process / service you closed was causing the spikes.

AV can cause spiking I guess. Modem issues could (try resetting?). WiFi does.

This happened to me when I was using Windows 7. My ping spiked from 20's to 130's+.

Here is a common solution that helped me and a bunch of other people. It will not ruin you computer, there are lots of forums threads about this.

* Open regedit
* Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
* There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF (Click on hex) (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
* Reboot

can i get a ss? like am i supposed to replace the 0x0000000 with the 0xFFFFFFFF or the 10?

ping is the connection between your router and the servers....or something like that...

gamebooster does nothing to that.

This is so annoying... i tryed reseting my router modem everything its STILL spiking... Ugh am i the only one having this problem?

replace the letter A with the letter F eight times
this will fix ping problems with windows 7
