Just a thought.
You know - one thing, even with all the crap that goes on with this game. If CF was set-up like CS/CSS with player/community-run servers, do you have any idea how much CF would change over night? In terms of Leagues being able to run private servers, community players being able to run private servers... the amount of money that would result... it's unimaginable. Why SmileGate is so foolish, I don't think i'll ever understand.
Servers with certain ping limits, etc.
Server Adminstrators who could kick out anyone they wanted... say there was a PUG server... somone using a weapon on the not allowed list... bam, gone..
Clearly they are stupid. They can't see the potential this game could have on a CS/CSS like server system, keeping the in-game buying system on every server? Imagine the money.
It's simple business as everyone claims, why they do what they do. Clearly it's not. Simple business would be to follow in CS/CSS suit and literally ten fold their earnings.
Keep the ZP system, keep the in-game market system... imagine if the game was on servers in EVERY country with that kind of system... They'd probably be the highest earning company in the known FPS genre.
But aside from that, imagine all the complaining that goes on now. You hate BR's? Private server, ping limit/IP restriction. Same on their end, since they don't seem to like us. Laggers? would be non-existent with the above statement. Reg? Improved a lot, but not perfect since Pings would be relatively close instead of far apart. Disconnects and all that would still be an every day issue. But with all the other issues gone, I wouldn't really mind.
Servers located in other european countries/Atlantic servers for chinese/australian players.
A PUG like system in-game where you have a console built into cf, where you can adjust your fps/rates/have different configs.
Join a pug server.
type .ready
Wait for 10 people to join the server.
2 captains are chosen at random and teams are chosen.
No hassle, no fuss. Just play.
A different client for pugging/scrimming.
-A more advanced client that would only detect/subnet ban players who actually TRY to inject a dll file into cf.
And a pub client with the same basic concept.
A scrim server that goes live under the server owner's rcon command.
First person view.
$800 start money.
Basic Mercanary Mode concepts.
edit: Thanks to polleus for discussing this with me.

SmileGate are straight morons, they'd make a HUGE profit out of doing this.
But yes, you're right. -
I've always thought this was a good idea. I'm bout tired of the over use of the kick vote. the Idea of weapon restrictions, item restricted ,and ping restricted matches sounds great to.
there have been a lot of good suggestions on how to improve the matches , but I don't think any of them have been taken seriously . -
yes, i think soISnipeFast- wrote: »The company that came out can't afford the engine and on top they aren't capable. The budget they have probably isn't even close to what cs 1.6/steam have done. This is a new company and can't afford to do it and wont do it ever. -
If you scrapped the buy system, I think it'd be a great idea. CS has it's own weapon buying systems, we have ours.
By the way........ when did slaya get smart?
I'd say something but I wont for the sake of this thread.
No, if you modified the buy system to match our item shop right now.
Not completely match CS's buy system. -

They aren't super new, but they aren't super old either. I have to agree with you that they probably don't have the budget to do everything we discussed right this second.
However, like we discussed earlier, imagine the amount of problems going on now, besides in-game errors, would be fixed. Imagine how many more people would probably play the game, being able to control their own servers. Keep the ZP system, keep the in-game market system, just as we have now. But instead of a handful of servers, there would be hundreds and more. That's mega $$$ for SmileGate and anyone associated with it. -

Agreed. It would be rather difficult and quite unlikely. However, I have been trying to find out the validity of the rumor I hear that CF Korea is on a different engine and that port was just recent. If that turns out to be true, there might be some hope on the horizon. -
It's doable. Why they won't is anyone's guess. The engine wouldn't really have to change, it is mostly about altering the client to connect to other machines and altering the server software to be configurable and be able to connect to the player database (where it keeps track of your account, weapons, stats etc)
The only problem is that it would be hard to prevent cheat servers, and allowing outside programs to access the database might be a security risk. -

It is all very possible. Even preventing cheat servers and outside access. I'm starting to see the problem, well one of the problems, is the fact that the Developers seem content with how the game is going, regardless of the real issues. -
This won't happen, i would love for it to happen, but with user's already playing the game in it's current stage, and the forum community only being a fraction of all the other CF players, it would be a hard change.
But if SmileGate or w.e company runs this game, could make another game erm idk called CF promod ( lolol ) it could probably run -
Yeah it can be worse than CS so long as it is nothing like CS heaven forbid. :rolleyes:just go buy counterstrike...
you sound like you want to turn this game into an exact clone of counterstrike with worse reg
It's nothing like CS. Come on. If you think taking some good ideas which could work anywhere makes it a clone, then you may as well already call it a clone since it is online and multiplayer. Just like CS! OMG CS clone! -
And then people would have hacked servers that would do all sorts of funky things and cause a lot of issues. Much easier to keep everything the way it is.
With the bad reg, bad net coding?
The spop, STAR make this game look ridiculous, not to mention the bunny ears and soccer nades.
If you pay money (speaking hypothetically if you buy your zp) to look like a girl on a video game, you've got gender insecurity problems.
