Crossfire client mfc error

my friend hasnt been able to play crossfire for abvout a month now due to an error he recieved ever since he restarted his computer from scratch. when he tries to load up on crossfire, he gets a message popping up that says something like "CLIENT MFC APPLICATION ERROR" it pops up after loading HGWC and xtrap. we downloaded the game onto his laptop to see if it would work and it did. we thought that maybe reinstalling it might work, but it didnt. so we transferred the files from his laptop to his desktop to see if the error would go away, but it didnt. im thinking maybe it has something to do with his service pack. he doesnt own a legal copy of windows xp, so he says he cant update his service pack to sp2. is he getting this error due to his sp? or is it something else? i know he doesnt have any antivirus software and this problem only started after he rebuilt his computer.

I have this problem to and its annoying i would do 1 match then do another and if i shoot it D/C's me but whats weird is that if i use the knife or gernade it doesnt D/C me.

Guys, everyone has this problem. Playing this game, you should expect to DC 5-10 times per day.

This problem has been going on for a long time now and Z8 has not fixed it. I had it some time ago and fixed it by uninstalling Google Chrome. However, that solution did not work this time. I am running Windows 7 64 bit with nothing but Crossfire and Google Chrome running. This partition on my hard drive is all but butt naked and I still get the problem. I have also reinstalled Crossfire several times and of course, restarted my computer.

My graphics card is perfectly fine for this and I have 4 gigs of ram. I'm running a Pentium Core 2 duo processor at 2.0Ghz. Due to this problem not arising when I boot Vista, I am sure it is a software issue. However, since my Vista partition is so full of crap, I get lag issues.

Z8, if you need any information about compatability or what software I am running, I will be glad to tell you all you need. Please contact me if you need any information.
