Yeah, I've made observations through my experience in the game, and Here are my favorite gp battle rifles.

Long range: Scar Light
Mid range: QBZ-95
close up: G36K

also, again, battle rifles. But I guess Submachine guns are ok. It's also sad that the m12s is more powerful than the Kriss super v (of course it's less auto and way more recoil)

I dislike the XM8 at short, the damage is too low, but on the other hand, the accuracy is incredible, so it's pretty easy to HS anyone who gets too close.

Just asking, is GP crate items counted as GP battle rifles?

Because loads of people say AK Camo which is GP crate and zp item.
