Indeed, you are correct. However, as there was a Moderator just recently picked, I think it would be safe to say they are a long ways off from opening up applications again. Someone who may be considered to be "Moderator worthy" now, may not be by the time they open up applications. You have good intentions to start a discussion, however this will only end up in an argument and a flame war over who is the better applicant. Good try though

Indeed the purpose of this thread is not very useful right now, however it is simply someone trying to get some thoughts on a particular subject. I'm sure the Moderators are watching it closely to prevent any unwanted flaming. Discuss the topic or leave it alone. He hasn't really done anything wrong.
