Hello Crossfire players.

I just wanted to familiarize myself a little bit here and introduce myself. I'm not a young kid so please do not treat me as such. Just wanted to get to know some of you and get a feel for the community. I am new to CF and I would like to get some advice from some of the more respected users on what events/groups I should participate in. I'm not in the mood to hear things like, "This game is bad. Go away" and statements of that nature. I've seen some good things and bad things simply browsing through these forums already. Anyways, Nice to meet you all.

By the way, just to add in there, I am not new to First-Person-Shooters in any way. I have been around FPS for a very long time. This will be a matter of learning the game and the community. But do not treat me like a "noob" as many people like to say. I've been around the block before.

  • Sup buddy, welcome to Crossfire! I'll hope you'll enjoy owning people, and being called a hacker by the foreign people.

Trust me, happens in every game.
  • I'm assuming you are referring to the fact that if you seem too good, you are called a hacker often? This should be amusing then.
  • /\
    guy is good

    Yeah, well, good luck bro.
I hope I see ya ingame and play a lil.

Either that, or you just get called a hacker because you don't have 200 ping by the BRs
  • Well, I'm not that good, because I've recently took a break from Crossfire about a week. Other than that, even if your pro, or you suck, the people will always call you a hacker.

No, I've never hack in my life.
  • scrim clans and competitive 10-20 member clans are the highest skilled clans/teams that dont play for clan rank .

if you like this game and when your semi good you should look for a team becuse thats they way to go in this game .

good luck and also almost everone uses xfire here .
  • with other words ,
    This cummunity sucks hard...

1 of the worst cummunity iv'e seen...
Not the staffs/GM's , but the players...
  • I figured the more competitive-based clans would be smaller in number. I'll have to get a feel for the game first - The maps, the weapons, the character movements and such. I won't consider anything on the competitive end until I'm really comfortable with it all. Any suggestions on weapon choice for Primary/Secondary weapons?
  • Welcome to the game and forums.

As a long time player and poster (and ex-moderator and tournament winner), I can hook you up with answers to any specific questions you have. You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders.

The key to these forums is to identify the handful of people who know what they're talking about and are able to hold conversation on it without resorting to bickering and trolling. Then you disregard just about everyone else.

As far as the game, you play it enough and you'll develope a love/hate for it.

As far as pistols, the desert eagle is pretty much the standard. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either clueless or just trying to be a non-conformist.

Play Alaska and Crossroad EM and get a feel for all the different guns there. Don't spend any GP until you've done that. Don't repair your starting guns, and if you decide to play other game modes then drop your gun and pick up someone elses.
  • Thanks Bruce. From what I've witnessed already, there seems to be a large amount of people who do not know the meaning of "Maturity" or "Intelligence". Any pointers on those specific groups you mentioned that I should move towards? I can't stand trolls and immature users. They have no purpose in these communities.
  • Welcome, Buy SPOP, Armor and Scar Light, Your set to go :)

People don't so much operate in groups around here. There are the forum regulars and the forum "randoms". You stick around for a while and see who posts what and you'll start to get an idea of the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Welcome, Buy SPOP, Armor and Scar Light, Your set to go :)

Perfect example of the type of advice to disregard. inb4 "I was just joking."

They come in spades around here. The community has a lot of younger players so its only natural.
  • That's too bad. That's obviously one of the things this community is lacking. Community groups tend to be quite important in other games. I'm sure after a day or two I will figure out who is good and who is bad. To the other comment, the moment I saw "Armor", I disregarded your statement, whether it was a joke or not.
  • Lol
Welcome to cf and the forums

    saintNooby's right...
All you need is a Scar-L, m12s, and spop
But if you get good enough
    Armor isnt all that great.

M12s is the smg of the SL.
You'll find out what that means later :D

Well i'm sorry. But all the cool kids use armor.

The only "official" community group is [oL] and thats a club that I started with a bunch of people around here.

    http://www.xfire.com/communities/idunnol/

There are a few "cliques" much like high school on this forum, but nobody is really organized in such a manner.

    eh, some advice:
Ignore BR/ high ping in general
Dont buy M12/ Scar light (aka scrub light) or SPOP
Dont spray, burst in 3-4 shot
M4a1 or K2 are probably the best gun for beginner

:O Im good on most days.. others.. people can be real rude, so it puts me in the position to get ugly :p

Well, it seems like you have a pretty good head on your shoulders as well. You seem to be quite knowledgeable in these parts. Does your club participate in or host any kinds of events and such? Or is it just a "well-known" club of people who have been around a while?

Why.. M12s is fun. SL is UnderRated.. by that is that I think M4-custom And aks are more easier to use then SL.
SL is real fun ^_^, so is m12s.
    If your wanting "competitive" play.
You should get mp5 or m4.
Awms are great and DSR is new to me but I think its great too.
    Depends on what you want.

[oL] is nothing more than a collection of people who have been around for a while and whom get along with each other. We're all skilled and smart. Some of us are pretty active on the forum as well. We don't host events yet but in the future I could see us doing some sort of broadcasting of matches if I can get the money together and find the time. I'd really like to.
  • I will take a look at all these weapons when I go in-game, most likely later tonight. However, I am an old school FPS player. In most games so far it has been the M4A1 or AK47 for a primary weapon and the Desert Eagle as a secondary weapon. This seems to be pretty similar in the responses and threads I have read so far. I will probably start there and work my way through other weapons.

Any particular place to play that would be better than the standard public rooms?

At Bruce: You could possibly think about doing some sort of fan-site where you can do things like broadcasting, videos, events etc. I haven't seen anything as of yet here where someone does something like that outside of these forums. Might be a good idea in the future. Just speculating here.

You Clearly aren't new to the game.
Seriously, What person goes on the game forum before testing the game.
    You are Bs.
    Go to rookie server
  • Well the PUG scene is sort of trashed lately. I have no clue who is doing what or if pugs even happen often. I'd advise just going into smaller sized rooms and learning some of the tricks of the game. Tomorrow I'll be in game for a while (I hope) and able to play some games.

Also, forumers usually host rooms randomly throughout the day. Those are good places to play with people who are better than your 350 ping mindless pub players.
