Here, take it from someone who you might have heard of...

A CF lan wouldn't work. Without even getting into the technical side of things, the simple facts are as follows:

#1 The average player age in CF is low. Parents are not going to let their kids travel to another city/state/country( Depending on if they hosted in Canada or USA) to play a video game. Thats just not going to happen.

#2 No incentive. The economy is a mess, and my $9.00 an hour job isn't enough for me to pay for an airplane ticket, hotel room, whatever fees the LAN has, food, whatever. Even with driving there is still gas to think about.

#3 No sponsors. Hosting a LAN is expensive. Renting out a hotel confernce (fuck spelling) hall isn't cheap. Neither is all the equipment needed to hook everyone up (power cords, network cables, the works) which brings me to...

#4 No point. While hanging out with people I've talked to for a daily basis online for the past year+ is awesome, that isn't worth the $$$$$$ it would be costing me to get there. I've traveled with my PC (Monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, tower, the works) via Greyhound bus before and it wasn't a plesant experience, nor cheap. I've already covered this in #2 BUT whats the point of going to lan? To make sure the people I'm playing against aren't cheating? Ok.

Who cares if they cheat though, are we playing a tournament?

    [Y] / N

Well then whats the prize for this tournament?

Without sponsors: T-shirts....pictures on a website...GM Saidin autographs my mousepad.

With sponsors: All of the above plus cash and equipment.

And EVEN IF WE DID GET SPONSORS then G4box has to decide what kind of tournament they're going to do. GM, TDM, S&D? Its not an easy choice when you have open invitations to every CF player.

tl;dr: Going to LAN is not as easy as "Hey guys lets all get together for a weekend and play CF" It takes money from all parties involved, as well as a lot of planning. The age of the community at large would make a LAN almost pointless, as little MyAWM isn't going to be able to convince his mother to let him borrow the family Dell and take a road trip to play video games.

game is dead and will always be dead. Has no future.

im just mentioning a cf lan as maybe a future for cf. But i doubt it will happen.
  • Well I didn't hear anything more from WOGL nor G4BOX about the 1000$ prize tournament. It died?

My LAN party in San Jose, CA with our matching shirts! All you need is some friends that live nearby and you're good to go! ;) Although you do have to ask your parents if you could have stranger internet people come over.
  • WOGL PRO is the $1k prize tourny with the winner going to China in October to compete in the E-sport Masters against CF teams in CF china, korea, japan, viet, etc. for more prize.

That's really not true... how can you say that while right now they're nearing the playoffs to a league with $1000 and trip to china, with a promising season 2 with 3 divisions? If you really think CF is dead, that's fine, go pub it up. Nobody wants people like you saying that just because your team won't enter anything because they won't go far.

I live in Michigan, so a lan in Chicago, IL would be perfect.

me too, and i could get some more to come, i know a lan center 30 minutes away from me

noone would show too afraid of getting caught

so they play on some mediocre client and play in a league that is probably run by a 15 year old

    welcome to crossfire

sounds like you're mad you can't win this league. Show me a lan with more than a $5000 1st place and LPK will win it. Until then we'll be winning WEM in china.

also i'd like to know what teams you played for in cevo-m, since you're clearly so proud of it.

not hard to catch cheats @ lan.

which is why CF lans will never happen. ever.

QQ leagues have ACS for that reason.
