audio lag -> router disconnect -> cf freezing

I'm not sure if that actually belongs to CF, 'cause I think it's just a computer problem, but asking doesn't hurt, or does it.

First I have to say that my router sometimes causes my computer to freeze all of the sudden - if this happens, I have to restart my computer using the power button on the tower. I've been observing this problem for a while now and I'm guessing this happens if my router or my web host (or whatever it is) fails to connect to a server correctly.

Well, my soundcard is very laggy. For some unknown reason playing sounds (especially the voice sfx in CF, but also sound in other games) requires a very long time to load, if it loads at all. If it doesn't load correctly, it (possibly) causes my router to disconnect, and then, CF suddenly freezes. This happens a lot when I'm playing GM and S&D , and if I try to open up the menue for sound messages ("nice shot", that kinda thing). Those crashes seem to appear more frequently when messengers like skype are running in the background. Yesterday, for example, my computer crashed around 3 times because of this. This rarely happens when surfing on the internets or the like.

I tried to update my sound driver, and it didn't really help out. There isn't any firmware update for my router either. I have installed a few audio codecs in the past though, which mabye could contribute to my audio lag. It's kinda frustrating, though, if you're ace and then suddenly your computer kicks you off randomly. :B
If anyone has a similar problem, or knows a solution for this, I'd be glad if you could share your experience.

  • A laggy soundcard? Very weird indeed. Well you can simply buy another. They aren't that expensive.
A router that freezes your computer? Ultra weird. Are you sure that is the router that freezes your computer or it's some background program that makes it crash?

Mab's your comp cant handle CF??
And yeah sound cards arnt that costly
Also, running skype etc would use quite alot of bandwith from your internet and if you think its your router maybe get a new one if you can??
