Lagger Definition
Lately ppl are complaining so badly about high ping laggers.
I would like to tell a bit of my understandings.
1. LAGGER doesnt == HIGH PINGER
Example:
I play CF from AUS coz there are no CF server around my area.
I only play on west coast and got a stable PING of 190.
It means everything I do, there will be a 190ms delay.
SO i am disadvantaged when play against ppl with lower ping.
sometimes me and 20 ping player both saw eachother and shoot 5-10 bullets each,
then i died, and on my dmg list, i did 0 dmg to the LOW pinger.
Y??? coz my client/server response time is slower!
server already deemed that i got killed b4 my shot REG is even received.
Therefore 0 dmg is dealt.
Question is: DO I LAG? or AM I A LAGGER?
OF course NO!
My conclusion is:
PING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LAG.
PING itself only represents a value of user's server/client response time.
IF you have 20 PING and play against a STABLE 300 ping player,
you will feel like that guy is super slow reflex, but its not that
he is really slow, just his action was delayed.
So play against a bunch of HIGH pinger means u are in a super
nice position with automated reflex boost.
2. Definition of LAGGER
LAGGER == player with UNSTABLE ping
whenever somebody in my house started downloading or streamming.
my 190 ping starts to swing back and forth (200-1000).
I would call myself a lagger under this situation too.
under this condition, the game is not playable at all.
80-90% of hit will miss no matter how u aim.
when it get worse until the point that you start to teleport around.
coz your internet is filled with traffic and some of ur data transmission
to the server and from the server are lost.
Therefore Others also find it hard to kill you.
Coz server doesnt have enough information about where ur exact location.
In an Easy CF language, you are TANKER/LAGGER!
SO, even if you live right next to server and got 10-50 PING.
IT DOESNT MEAN YOU ARE NOT LAGGER. YOU COULD STILL LAG.
with an unstable ping.
There was once a guy with 40 ping got killed by me, called me TANKER NOOB.
I was like, w.t.f, my ping is absolutely fine and consistently at 190.
Then i started tap tab to see if there is anything wrong.
I discovered that his ping is jumping between 40-3000.
Its funny how he called me a tanker when he is actually the lagger.
So stop call HIGH PINGER LAGGERS if you dont even know the basic knowledge
about how online game works.
I would like to tell a bit of my understandings.

Close enough.
Ping is quite simply the distance between the two servers connecting, a high ping usually means that there is quite a bit of distance between the server and the player. I asked on Crossfire and was told the game is Peer 2 Server (well, there was some unintelligible debating, but yea), so the ping is the distance of the connection between the server and player. A high ping sometimes means lag because of the distance.
Lag is something entirely different, it can be caused in the form of FPS lag for the player, usually as a result of having bad settings, a GFX card that can't handle the game, or having too much of a load on the card or CPU at once. You can also have network lag, which a lot of times is just restricted bandwidth from the ISP, or a bad connection to the internet and server.
The reason you get lag when someone downloads or streams is that doing those things uses up a lot of bandwidth, and you don't have an unlimited(well, really high amounts) amount of bandwidth unless you have the most rockin' ISP in the world and pay $300 a month or something for internet.
One more edit, ping is related to network lag as ping is the roundtrip of echo packets, the host sends the packets to the server, and waits for them to come back, once they do the amount of time taken to make the roundtrip and any packet loss is measured, and that's your ping. The reason high pings lag is because they either get packet loss or their bandwidth is full up and can't send or receive packets quickly.
Just for the record though, both of those are just "maybe's", I'm pretty sure how that works, but I'm not 100% certain for either. -
Ping is a measure of latency and high latency = lag. it is that simple and has always been that simple, to suggest otherwise makes you look like an idiot.
2nd point. This games netcode does not check player data againts server data... As in, you say your here, the server says you are there, and the player shooting at you thinks you over here... Most games use the servers info as the standard for hit detection calculations, makeing the players with the fastest (lowest ping) the most accurate ingame info.....
this game does not, so this happens,, Lagplayer a comes around corner and shoots at good ping player b cause he sees him, server gets info from player a saying he was here, u were there, and lag A hits him.. Mean while, good ping player B has not even gotten the signal that player A has even come around the corner because of such high latency on player As side, End result,, player b gets gun down by an invisible player A....
This game makes playing the game with high ping and playing againts players with high ping hell... where as it should just make the game UNPLAYABLE with high ping and make us all happier.
the use of the word Lag to describe poor FPS is a sorta a new thing, as in, 5 years ago no one would ever say their lagging because they have low FPS..... Good gamers (as in any one who wanted more from a game then a console could provide with their avg 6 hours of play time) always bought good graphics cards and good systems to run them, you just did not play games your computer could barely run... But with the advent of FREE to play games a whole new cross section of unexpereanced PC gamers came into the market and around that time started calling LOW fps LAG, which has done nothing but confuse people. -

Actually, its almost true. -
Maybe you are right, but nothing is going to change.
That.
As long as a game like Crossfire remains free to play with low requirements, people who don't have the necessary hardware or network connections will keep playing it, as they don't know enough to know that they're lagging to everybody in the room with them or how to fix it. -

what he said.
omg you summed up my response but were more direct and too the point..... -
The lag is caused by the lost packets. It`s like as if you edited a movie and cut a piece of it here and there . so at a moment the movie will jump from an image to another one in a different location . ( this is lag)Close enough.

low FPS ( like 16 - ) is a kind of lag but this is the problem of the user and does not affect the players on the server.
So this is why I said that the way he defined the lag was perfect . " but sometimes Noobs need more explanation than that .( like baby that you need to hold the spoon so that he can find his mouth ) and it`s all those noobs who will use the QQQQQ word LAG to get a kick for the player who owned his ass in game " -

bad troll bad.
AND lag IS LATENCY.... K? understand? from the dawn of online video games and networking the term LAG has meant high LATENCY.... aka HIGH PING...
Packet lose can cause Latency that does not necessarily show up in the over all PING... BUT, in todays infostructure packet loss is RARELY the issue unless you are dealing with a poor wireless signal... you can have perfect 100% packet reception with over 100ms ping and you still LAG... EVERYTHING, (nearly) that the first person posted, all the things you said that are "perfect and true" are, in a single word.. WRONG..... I dont care what you think lag is, and i am surprised you even know what a packet is but you are mistaken... My guess is, most br's and other people playing games on foreign servers who have little to no online game exp. have taken to thinking lag means something that it does not, so that THEY are not in th wrong.... example..
"I have 150 ping and so does every one I know in real life.. CLEARLY 150+ ping is better and those with less ARE THE LAGGERS" the words and logic of the ignorant.... -

i have played CS in aus with 30ping or less since 10 years time.
i know exactly how it feel when a few players with dail-up connections
or from other region joined, they have 150-500 pings. Its much easier to kill someone with high ping since they react slower.
I once dueled 7.62, the core player of AUS WCG CS representitive from 2001 to 2004 period.
He refused to play on my own server coz, he said its disadvantaged to go join with
a 70 ping playing from SYNDEY to a MELBOUNE. Whereas i get 30 ping.
I also played the captain of 96(ranked top 10 in china) back in 2002,
i played him after he immigrated to USA.
1 vs 1 blookstrike. 50-20, i won.
Y, coz he is playing me from USA,
he joined my server with 200 ping.
I can tell that he react very slow and thats how i won.
A few ppl say that LAGGER== HIGH LATENCY==HIGH PING.
I need to explain this.
Most ppl call others LAGGER coz they think LAGGER tanked their shot
or LAGGER killed them.
yes lagger in common language means high latency and high ping.
but lagger means their own reaction in game is slowed.
they doesnt really affect the server game play.
the only REAL LAGGER are the ones with UNSTABLE PING.
caused by FPS,downloading, streamming , bad isp etc. -
Please explain how a constant stream of packets going to and from the server at a 200 millisecond delay causes so much data to be lost that warping occurs.Lemme tell you this: High Ping = Warp = Lag.
I had such an understanding in primary school, when I thought 200 ping meant 1 packet every 0.2 seconds. Sometimes, people mature mentally.
Probably already said, but hell. It was such a flawed argument that I had to let out my frustration on it.
Also sick of Americans blaming stable high ping opponents for their losses. -

You're asking me a question i don't know the answer about. Like: Why do Humans even exist?
Lemme repeat, if you don't have low ping, stfu. You don't face the situations, while i Do.
We see you high pingers killing us behind walls, and showing up 2 sec laters. You guys barely ever take damage.
These cases does not happen when i face 100- ping.
This is CF, not CS:S, a F2P and a P2P game aren't comparable.
And Finally, we hear more high pingers cry than low pingers.
EDIT: Too bad i never lose to high pingers. -

I see warping from PING SPIKERS. That's how fking warping occurs - when a large amount of packets were lost for a period of time, so nothing got through. After the packets resume, the position of the character is "warped".
High ping shooting through walls? We don't shoot at the walls. We shoot at your character model that was shown on our screen. Without the ping, we'd simply shoot you while you could see us, and you'd get damaged a few milliseconds earlier. 2 seconds later would indicate some severe packet loss (hence SPIKING), on EITHER side.
Think about this concept for a while, instead of simply putting forth blunt opinions and dodging my points. 200 ping means I see things 200 milliseconds late, hence I can "wallshoot" you. It also means I give the server information 200 milliseconds late, hence you can "wallshoot" me. Everything goes both ways, except for the fact that I'm seeing a more inaccurate display of the true positioning of your character.
I didn't say anything about CSS. You shouldn't lose to high pingers, they have the bloody disadvantage. -

You might as well stop playing if you think you have the disadvantage, because everyone would be happy, if you HIGH pinger would leave.

like dude or girl im sorry i tottaly respect you and no offence.....brasilians,euros,aussies dutch,etc....are still gonna play this game.....z8 games would make atleast over 100 billion dollars if they make servers per each continent....like 4 servers in south america....4 servers in austrailia,asia,etc...they would make alot of money because people likes playing this game...and they will buy zps....there are over 100 million ppl play this game that would buy zp in this game....honestly to me...i think game should be international...not just for uk/canada/usa. -
You don't have 200 ping, you don't know how much we get tanked. Even say it's equal on both sides, you get more accurate character models drawn on your screen, and your packets get to the server first. Your adv.Let me repeat, you don't have low ping, you don't know what's happening to them when you see a 200 pinger.

I simply draw the tanking equation to high ping disadvantage from my understanding of the theory behind it, spectating others, and my own experiences. I can see a ridiculous number of bullets from a high pinger fly into some low pinger, then the low pinger turning around and letting forth a killing burst / bullet. Not vice versa.
I'm very sorry I live in Australia. People in the poorest parts of Africa have a disadvantage. Do you say it's their fault for being there, and it's annoying that taxpayer money is going to charities to help out such people?
I said everything happens both ways - repeating me does not create an argument for yourself. Of course it's not supposed to happen to you. Is it fair either player gets tanked? No. Both ways, again.
I'm fine with having the disadvantage. What I'm not fine with are the people who think that low pingers are having a hard time, and who talk trash about high pingers. An English version of any game attracts all English speaking countries, and should be defined as so. I should not be told to play a game where I don't understand any text, or quit simply because I am far from the servers.
I think I should also throw in the fact that the CF reg system is very poor without ping complications. You should go cry to the developers about how that isn't fair. -

everything is based on theory and evidence, do you have anything to support your point?
READ this slowly:
you said b4 that u wont lose to a high pinger, now u said the condition are the same.
but wait, if its the true for higher pinger and you both to have the same problem.
then y you say u wont lose against high pinger?
so you are saying you are the best player in world as long as opponent ping is 200.
are you the only one who know how to change play style?
your statement contradict and you need to learn to THINK b4 you type.
