Internet problem (not totally related to CF)
Sorry for opening a topic of a closed one, but this isn't even totally related to the last one..
Anyways, since I noticed my ping is getting higher (68 atm) I was wondering if it is my connection... my modem keeps getting disconnected very often nowadays.
I don't know much about modems, but tell me what can you make out of this...:

If anyone could help me with this I would appreciate it! If I must buy a new modem / new connection provider to fix this, tell me.

The thing is, I used to have 49 ping before the modem disconnects started, and now it has been getting higher slowly... Does the DSL speed have anything to do with the ping/is that normal for DSL speed?Changing ISP might solve your problem, however the difference might not be considerable, I've seen some cases were people change ISPs and their ping gets better, but not by a lot. -

Ping only shows how far you are from the server, having a faster DSL speed might not help that much (unless is another ISP) -

Maybe your internet connection is not that stable, and when you are DLing something, that occupies space in your bandwidth therefore it lags you since CF is not the only program using your bandwidth anymore. -
I said that as a response to the ping tells only how far I live from the server...Maybe your internet connection is not that stable, and when you are DLing something, that occupies space in your bandwidth therefore it lags you since CF is not the only program using your bandwidth anymore.
anywho, is getting new ISP/modem the only way to go

Probably, or you might try resetting your modem's configuration/un-installing and re-installing the modem's software and the last option would be reformatting.
