Logo's should never contain a background.

If you want to actually make a logo for anything, it should be able to be visible and seen on and coloured BG.

Second for sure looks nice.

Call me a hater but I like the look of the classic one...

for now, I'm sure I will change it up at a later date.

Denxi be nice, you are not god's gift to logo making. :>

Fox likes what he made, I like what he made, is it art? There really isn't criteria for art, even though schools and books will try to tell you otherwise.

Ack. Understand that there's a professional standard for anything "marketed." How does me telling him how to make a logo (something that is professional based) more professional degrade his "art?"

My lack of Illustrator atm is annoying, so here's one without the usual vectoring I'd do.

The first would be for placement on lighter pages, the second for placement on darker. Although IMO the glow and shadow need a few small tweaks.

There's a difference between a logo having a background, and the background being PART of the logo.

For example, your third was fine. Although the hard-corner box shape isn't ideal, the text relies on the BG. If you have placed it in a circle with specifically vectored edges, it would have looked better.

However, the second one's BG was not necessary. It might have actually looked better without the BG.

Hard-corner boxes make it look bad, unless under incredibly specific circumstances.
