I don't see any reason why regular members are not allowed to have pictures/gifs in their sigs.

Dot why not have a karma system people with a required amount of karma can have image signatures. AKA active formers who know rules ( something like fL ), And If people were going to put inappropriate things couldn't they just create threads?

There are apparently troubles with that system.... cant go into more detail really but it will come eventually, then the concept of having image sigs based on the amount of Karma you have should come with it hopefully

Just have limits on the sizes of images, and signatures in general and it should be perfect.
