Headset important question
I'm an active GM player, and my new headset kinda just went dead after a year. While talking in IRC, the two best suggestions I got for headsets were:
Razer Megalodon
and
Sennheiser PC 350
Basically, I want the better of the two for GM, for pinpointing and stuff. Needs to be reall loud. Not sure which is better though.

If you're using this headset ONLY for CF gaming, than any 2.0 headset will do you fine.
Megladon is a 7.1 headset, used it before (very comfortable and amazing sound quality)
Sennheiser is just amazing.
I use this:

I have a buddy who has he sennheiser modle, and he said it's amazing, but the razer could be better for pinpointing. I'm asking if it is pretty much. If not, I'll just get the sennheiser. -

Theres no point of getting expensive headsets for crossfire.
If you multigame then you should. -
people say 2.0 is the same as 7.1 for cf. but you can tell a big different between the two settings. espec for the mode you play.
i use logitech g35. it switches between 2.0 and 7.1 at the flick of a button. using the 2.0 is better for pinpointing. the 7.1 is better for fast b hoppers. too bad it can't be both. overall, it's awesome for movies, music and game but i havn't tried any other expensive headsets yet. -

Razer Megalodon is the same as Razer Carcharias(I own this)! I mean the headset itself is the same. The difference is that with the Megalodon comes that brick with the SOFTWARE forced surround sound. Yes, Megalodon is not a real surround headset - it is software emulated. The headset has just 2 speakers - one for each ear.
I own Razer Carcharias and ASUS XONAR D1 sound card which allows me the same software surround emulation(and comes cheaper - headset+sound card). It's great for movies and games but it's NOT good for GM pinpointing(the surround I mean)! For that you need just the good old stereo. -
ok i say this for the last time anny decent headset that covers you ear will work in this game , this game doesn't support 7.1 suround like css does , so you can rather pay 100 euro or 20 euro they will both work same good?
pz: i have steelseries 7H usb 7.1 suround (awsome in css

This refers to mice only.don't compare razer with anyone
Pretty sure that the Megaladon has a few speakers/places sound comes out in each speaker in each ear to obtain surround sound.Razer Megalodon is the same as Razer Carcharias(I own this)! It's a stereo headset(Razer Carcharias) + integrated sound card and emulating software in the "brick".
"...In other words, some manufacturers have opted to digitally create the experience of three dimensional surround sound rather than delivering multichannel audio through several drivers. The Razer Megalodon is an example of a simulated surround sound gaming headphone, but instead of simulating standard 5.1 surround, Razer has kicked it up a notch by incorporating full 7.1 channel support."

"...The Megalodon doesn’t provide true surround sound. The Maelstrom engine, built off the same technology the French Air Force employs to generate surround sound for fighter pilots, simulates surround sound and volume levels of the action on-screen to give it more effect, and more oomph.
While not stable on the head, the Megalodon does provide very good sound quality. Bass is fairly good, though not as good as Logitech's G35. Stereo sound is crisp and clear, while stereo played through the Maelstrom engine loses much of its depth, and oddly gains bass. Surround, however, has profoundly great quality (even though it isn’t “true” surround sound). So good, in fact, that it made the discomfort seemingly disappear, at least for a little while. Finding noise-making objects in a game world is easy."
