OK HERE IS HOW TO FIX IT,

He told us how to do this i just re worded it.

1. Go to C;program files/Z8Games/Crossfire
2. Open the text doc. called "version"
3. It will look like this on the inside.

LatestVersion = 1049
MinimalVersion= 1036
OwnVersion = 5

4.What is needs to look like is this.

LatestVersion = 1050
MinimalVersion= 1036
OwnVersion = 5

5. Now save it and close the text doc.
6. Right click "version" file and go into propertys.
7. Down the bottum change it to read only.

8. Save these settings.

9. Open crossfire, it will now patch properly.

NOW PLAY.

Thanks heaps for the above Kezaza, worked instantly for me. Awesome!!

Make sure you remember to make the 'version' file Read Only once you have edited the latest version number to 1050, or else it will return back to 1049 and will give the same error when you run Crossfire.

yeah i'm using a windows 7 laptop and i have already downloaded game like 6 times (takes 5 hours each time!) and i have followed all the necessary steps but it still doesn't work. and does anyone know if doing what kezaza said works on windows 7?

Same.. That thing is making me angry.. I play CrossFire once every installation because that thing keep popping up after 1 log in. Grrr

That doesn't work for me (Keezza and the other guy's idea)
