thx bro, people were suggesting Killzone to me, my mom would kill me if she watched me playing GTA lmao. My friends irl want me to get MW2 because i say they suck and I'm better when I havent touched a ps2/3 controller before lmao XDI don't own one, hopefully soon though.
If you like driving and shooting I'd suggest GTA 4, Resistance, COD MW2, MAG, Ratchet and Clank, Red Dead Redemption, Motorstorm.
Only ones that come to mind.

Killzone is good, slipped my mind. MW2 is hot right now, so ya it's a good choice.
Resistance is a sci fi shooter, ratchet and clank is a 3rd person shooter, looks a bit childish but is pretty fun. Motorstorm is just offroad racing. Ah I think read dead redemtion is along the lines of GTA, so stay away from that too XD
Oh and let me add Infamous, and both Uncharted games. Both of those are awesome I hear. -

For shooting I'd suggest Killzone 2
,MW2 or if you wanna wait you can get Call of Duty blackop's,
also battlefield 2
For racing there's "Split Second",Need For Speed shift,Mod nation Racers,and Dirt 2
Keep care of your PS3 and don't keep it in cramped tight spaces or it might overheat and beware of the Green Light
