Balance (Discussion thread)

This thread will be about the balance of weaponry and gear in this game. There have been many specific threads started on the balance of one particular weapon but I wanted to create a thread that includes them all and even certain gear (SPOP, armor, etc). This is not only a thread to QQ that <insert weapon here> should be nerfed but you can also discuss weapons that need buffs. I will start this thread off with a few of my thoughts.

Spas-12: This gun needs buffed very badly. It is completely worthless over the XM, as in literally no advantages over it. The XM is cheaper and I think it has a lower rank requirement. Z8 needs to do something about this gun. It should have more range and power than the XM at the cost of maneuverability.

M12s: Easily the most overpowered SMG and without a doubt the most unbalanced gun in the game. Everything about it is unbalanced but the main points of concern are its reload, accuracy and effective range. This gun is so out of balance that I'm not completely sure what I'd do to it. IMO, it needs removed.

G36K/XM8: I've heard the XM8 was nerfed in this aspect but I'm not sure. Either way, the full box damage is unacceptable. I can understand snipers and SMGs having full wallbang ability but it is ridiculous for all rounded rifles to possess such an advantage.

Beretta AR-70: I'm unsure if it is OP but on paper it certainly is. AK damage with Scar-L accuracy and relatively low recoil. Not many people have it or use it yet so I'll sleep on this for a while. It feels like an easy button for sure, though.

QBZ-95: This gun is so worthless. Why does it even exist? You can't hit anything when you spray so you're forced to tap or burst. IMO, worst gun in the game.

  • all true except for the part about the AR-70...and QBZ...

    regarding the AR-70, on paper, maybe it's OP, but in-game, it's more a jack of all trades that can only be good but not great at every trait. it's very well balanced, and sucks at close range rushing.

    btw, damage is pretty weak, similar to the SCAR (well, weak as compared to the AK) :D


    as for the QBZ-95, it's a great all-around gun with nice power, good bursting accuracy, and the ability to rush (with practice).

    all in all, don't whine about these two guns that you either don't have, never used, or are "too hard"

  • The Beretta AR-70 isn't over powered in my opinion. The only thing that MIGHT need a slight nerf is the power. It's so strong! xD

    QBZ-95 is one of the most under rated weapons in the whole game... I do really good with it. It's a scar light with more power, and slightly bigger recoil. I personally love it.

    Yes, but tommy gun is only available in crates.It needs to be good for people to risk getting it.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa, you don't say things like that about the QBZ......Because it has a bad spray pattern only makes it more pro by forcing you to one shot headshot...

  • buddy, about the xm8... its a scar light but better, its lower rank to get (now) it has about same power and accuracy. only things that are different are the recoil and the box dmg.

    and on the other hand, your trying to say smg should have 100% box dmg, hell no noob sprayers... like you said the QBZ-95 sucks cause of its spray then maybe you should get better.
  • deagle camo can do 60+ damage in 1 shot. 9 bullets with a lightning fast reload and fast fire rate too. it's way too good. just when you think you're going to kill the awmer, he pulls out one of these....
  • yep the XM8 is quite an easy gun to use and has 100% box dmg.
    as for the m12, well, its a gp kriss lol.
    deagle camo... does the same dmg as a normal one, u can also 2 hit someone with a normal deagle close up, though it does reload faster and has a larger clip.
    QBZ sucks? lol... although its (for close combat) spray sucks a bit, its an awesome burst/tap wep, imo, its quite a headshot machine at mid range (aim at breast, 2-3 bullet hits the head... lol).

    only picked up the AR70 from the floor a few times, all i can say is, its not really OPed ... its dmg isnt that of an AK47, nor is it AS easy to use an a SCAR L.

    SPAS12, agreed... the XM is easier to use...

    btw ... apart from the p90 and mp4 (which irl apparently do have armor/wall piercing bullets), i dont see why all other SMGs should ... and why dont the snipers have 100% box dmg? lol...

    Well it's a crate weapon. Needs to be better than the regular one.
  • I have used the Ar 70 and its not really all that OP. If you can aim and burst with it, it feels like an Ak with the spray of an SL. It also sounds terrible :P Doesnt need a serious nerf if any. m12s.. worst gun ingame, idk what to do with it :P

    But add damage warnings like any other weapon so people don't say it's OP.

    By damage warnings I mean the red arrows pointing out from where you're getting shot at...even tho that's the whole point of a silencer.

    I think M4-C is fine. I don't have a problem with it. I own and used it before and after this latest patch.

    I also think it's fine, but it isn't as good as it was before. It used to do minimum 33 damage to the chest and now it does 28-33 max. Why did they try to fix something that isn't even broken? They totally destroyed my favorite weapon.

    The power...it got nerfed...

    Everything else was kept the same except that. They decided to nerf the M4-C but not the M12s or Scar Light...

    It was already weaker than the regular M4...there was no need to weaken it more.
  • well the deagle scope is a ZP crate weapon. yet it's nowhere near as good as deagle camo. less accuracy (non scoped), slower fire rate, and not as fast reload. i don't know about the power for deagle scope, but i know deagle camo does 2-3 MORE damage than regular deagle.

    if they deagle camo was like the deagle scope it would be okay.
  • Alright, sorry. I have lots of stuff to say in response but I was busy last night.

    Maybe you're right about the QBZ. I just hate it and a lot of players I know hate it too. It's such a bad gun IMO. It's probably fine.

    The Beretta AR-70 will be complained about when a good amount of players have it. Mark my words; it is simply too powerful, too accurate, and too stable.

    SMGs should have box damage since they have no range in this game. I mean, box damage *should* only be useful in CQC and that is where SMGs are used. However, when you have an all rounded rifle like the XM8/G36K shooting through boxes, it becomes a very unfair advantage. No one is going to snipe you from behind a box with an MP5 or P90 in this game.

    The Thompson is somewhat OP. If one could control its fire rate and slight recoil, it becomes usable at distance. I picked one up and just for the lulz of it, sniped across Egypt. Guess what... it's a one shot headshot. The Thompson has a 60 round magazine, is fairly accurate, can be used at distances and has decent power while the Uzi does 8 damage in the legs at close range. The designers clearly are not putting a lot of thought into balance...

    ...which brings me to the Uzi. It needs a huge buff. I'd say give it very good accuracy and expand its magazine capacity to 35 or 40. I mean, why make something that does literally no damage have horrible accuracy?

    Oh, and Dragunov is a joke. Please give it AWM damage. I can understand its accuracy but I cannot understand why they made it suck with the damage.

    I mean, even an AK47 should be able to do FULL DMG thru boxes.
    Some kind of rifles should have that integrated, not only the XM8.. because, between me and you, a fckin box is made of what? WOOD! What happen if you shoot with your AK47 thru WOOD ?! The bullet of the Ak47 doesnt give a damn sh!t about it, it just go thru :p

    It would be different if they tried to balance it out. For example, if EVERY gun had some degree of penetration based on a certain trait. Guns with higher damage would have higher penetration so following this trend, the snipers would have the best, followed by the AK and Beretta, etc. However, for some random reason, the G36K and XM8 are the only rifles that have full box damage. This is not fair.

    Also, you can't be realistic about one aspect and then not realistic about another aspect. In real life, if you get shot by an AK47, you will probably not live. The bullet it fires is huge and the wounds it inflicts are extremely traumatic.

    I agree with that. Im pretty sure they wont fix the G36K and XM8 any way because it has been like that since the beginning of CF.
