Help with my Gamepad please!

Hi i've been using CrossFire for a few months now and I thought I would use my Logitech rumblepad 2 controller with this game. When I use XPadder it works out of the game but when I pull the game up it stops working. Why is this? My friend got his 360 controlloer to work with Xpadder and CrossFire but it won't work for me. Can somebody help me?
