Disconnection from server

Yes, I know, this has been solved right? Wrong. I recently had this problem during the last patch, and managed to fix it by using a new router.

However, after today's patch I'm getting the problem again, continuously, almost exactly in the same way as with my old router. I disconnect from server approximately 10-15 minutes after logging in, then if I try logging in again, I disconnect within 3 minutes. I'm either disconnected from server due to incorrect map info, or just blatantly disconnected from server.

I run a Windows Vista laptop, wireless internet, and some random Ativa router my dad had in the storage that actually works pretty well with the game until now.

I've concluded that due to some type of server or client issue, I am being disconnected. I have changed nothing on this computer, so the only way for me to be disconnecting again is due to a change within the client or the server.

For now, I'll re-install the game to see if that helps any.

  • Well, there are various reason in getting disconnected like that. I dont really think you had to buy a new router for fixing this issue. Maybe Windows DEP is also responsible for this, sometimes? - but IDK, we can't pinpoint the root cause of this...

But plz dont buy a new router again. xD
  • It wasn't really a NEW router, it was just a different one that my dad had bought on sale just in case our old one was starting to die (and it was).

But yeah, don't worry. I don't think I'll be needing another router for this. I'll just continue to see if I can fix the issue.

    What is DEP?

Data Execution Prevention, kinda like a safe check for stuff that goes on in your computer so that it doesn't explode.
  • Well, I enabled uPnP for my router, which was the solution given in the sticky, and it's still unfruitful. I guess I'll be taking a hiatus from Crossfire until there is some solution to this.
  • Before trying anything too drastic please remember that many players are download the game patch at the same time which will cause some lag for the next few days and could even cause minor connection instabilities to some users depending on their connections.

Please try again later in case that is the only issue you are having.

Thank you very much for the reply. I understand that due to the amount of flooding there is going on in the server, that this may cause lag and such, but I never expected to be blatantly disconnected so often.

But as I said, I will come back to the game once this issue is either resolved, goes away, or luckily disappears.
