Did you turn off your anti-virus and Windows Defender when downloading/installing?

Have you let GameWatcher and X-Trap through your firewall?

Have you used GameBooster to disable any unnecessary background processes?

I dont ever ever and never use hack programs. If yall don't know what you talking about, please keep silent.
about anti virus and firewall stuff. i have tried turned them off, open ports and stuff. still don't work. switch to window 7, don't work. redownload, reinstall don't work.

Try to open it 3-4 Times so that the game will launch.
I also experience that problem.
All i did is to run the game 3-4 times and then it launches

i've got the problem failed to connect to server before. i've tried to open the ports 10009 and 13008, however the problem still persist.
guess what? i've found the problem: those ports are for crossfire only, another port has to be opened for gamewatcher to launch.
so generally you have to open 3 ports: 10009, 13008 AND 16666.
after you've done that? happy gamming

in case you're not an internet expert, just go on your modem address and set your firewall setting at LOW, instead of medium or high. if you can't do this, just type in google "how to open ports"

Play with hacks is boring and not fair
When I first came but a problem with the v5 versions.ini

This is what's been happening to me too. I've re-installed it after not playing for over a year on my Windows vista (Don't tell me to get W7 as i won't bother, this computer screws up too often to be worth it) computer and it comes up with this. I've unblocked all the recommended ports, all the applications relating to crossfire and I've re-installed it twice and restarted the computer (and crossfire) numerous times.

Why is this still not working? Anyone?

I just started experiencing this as well. Z8/G4 messed something up again, it's not on your end.

Just try starting the game a few more times.
