ok, so i uninstalled crossfire an hour ago to get rid of my sound mods and my kill badges and my backrounds and all that... so i decided to re-install it...bad idea >.>

after it "installs" on my computer, i click the crossfire button, and it says run time error argument. when i run it as admin, it goes through the patcher, halfway through the patch, it says "unable to install patch file"

i know this is in wrong section, but i wanted it to get some attention.. haha?

any help, and yea i reinstalled it 2 times, and the "common solutions" did not help.. but idk what my anti-virus is

Are you sure you downloaded the latest version from the website or torrent?

Ermmm, this might not work, but try the torrent. I used that recently (post-patch) and it worked.

Did you do a clean uninstall of CrossFire?

Unfortunately, they decided to keep v1045 up from the direct mirrors, which still needs a patch or two on it $:\$

i still had a subagames folder in my program files, i just deleted that, and im gonna try and reinstall on torrent

LimeWire must be set as your default torrent downloader. I'd personally recommend BitComet

try rightclicking CF icon and hitting properties go to compatibility and click run as windows xp sp 2 or 3, depending on what version of windows you have
i used to get the runtime error thingy and it worked

If you have Vista 32-bit, don't bother changing it unless you can put up with deafening sound of permanent gunfire and bomb noises.

That is a point though, are you running it in admin?

last time i downloaded crossfire was....

March 20, 2009.

yes im running as admin, if i dont, i get the error, "run time error argument 5"
and when i do run as admin, it goes to the patcher, halfway through patch it says "can not download patch"

ehh, alright downloaded utorrent, and i downloaded the cf torrent.. it got done in utorrent and i clicked on it and my download folder popped up? ehh i havent downloaded cf in over a year...

wow, i did a system restore point to about 3 days ago... still have same problem, but this time, it says it cant find the file... OMG
